Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

DXC Switzerland to shed >30% of all employees

New WFR in Switzerland
all employees were informed by email. Mainly employees who are older than 50 (what a surprise).
They have to go in the next 2-3 months.

to @5viu+16FJh4Rf , Get over yourself.

The only skills needed in IT are google skils.
Those 5 cheaper resources are all desparate for your job, will work any hours asked for longer.
Not only that they are a lot smarter than you - after all, they can speak in another language - English.

Just get out of the way, leave - you're bringing DXC's profitability down

3qby+16FJh4Rf I would feel angry if I was an employee in western country like Germany that has been made redundant leaving me to find myself another job, try to pay my mortgage, credit cards, etc. Then adding insult finding out that 5 newly hired graduates in lower cost centre country, e.g., India are doing my role but not as well, struggling, tarnishing the DXC further and letting the customer down when they can't fix problem 123, take longer time to fix it and customer X is charge for this and a poor service.

Graduates aren't just in India either... Massive pile of them all over.

I don't feel angry about it, just feel sorry for the grads and the customers.

I've heard the term "intern" applied to them as well...

that's why customers choose in a lot of cases against DXC

DXC in India has hired approximately 5000 campus graduates this year and 50% of them are women. The company continues to invest in campus relationships and has plans to increase the number of graduate hires next year with the aim to ensure the right representation and talent pool required to serve customers.

What bull , laying off talented people and hiring cheap know nothing of the real world India graduates

If DXC on day one had 176,000 employees and now 2.5 years later it has (actual) 180,000 employees, but one third of them are more expensive than they used to be....

Just where has ANY cost saving come from at all?

Revenue is WAY down too.

How can any numbers be better?

Anyone cleverer than me work that one out?

And despite all of that, everyone seems to be doing the work of additional people.

Unless of course DXC had 176,000 employees PLUS 90,000 contractors?

Definitely something stinks.

Getting rid of contractors is technically easy. But who is going to do the work?

Yes getting rid of contractors saves load of money it's a no brainer. But they are not on the books as employees so dont count in headcount reduction.

So the tick boxes just tick boxes and reduce headcount they dont think about what's best.

Mike s looking to reduce contractors so the music has changed slightly, see what happens.

Getting rid of contractors though is easy - there are no terms needed to be paid out.

They also are paid more than permy staff.

Which is why pretty much every company gets rid of contractors the second they need to save some money, usually en masse. A quick and cheap way of cutting costs.

That ratio of contractors to permanent is insane too - if Wall Street caught a whiff of that, they'd be screaming.

Its be because when the middle management are asked to get rid of people they go for the easy target eg permanent staff.

In the past Contractors were counted as staff so they can get rid of permies and get more contractors.

Mike s has figured it out and was saying his going to get rid of contractors. So middle management will now get rid of contractors, as middle management dont have a brain, eg just do what they are told, but as always they go to an extreme to please the uppers.

I'd suggest asking why we have 120,000 permanent staff and 60,000 contractors.

That's what the current staff levels are.

One third are contractors and yet permanent employees are being wfr at a high rate.... If that makes any sense in business then I don't know what it is. That's hardly cost reduction.

They will be sure to pay the women even less - don't think it will be all roses for them.

"Looks like there is finally some expansion in the company, cuts everywhere except our new headquarters where they have recruited 5000. "

This is no expansion. It is just a exchange of staff. Experienced staff is exchanged with cheaper staff.
Every dollar counts!

Well, if you have a closer look, it gives a mixed picture.

https://sightsinplus.com/news/jobs-news/dxc-technology-lays-off-some-staff-in-india/

There is hiring and firing at the same time. One the one hand it's good the women have a better chance now to get hired.

But guess why fresh graduated and women are hired in high numbers and the more experienced staff is layed off? And what will that mean for the delivered quality and the customer experience ...

The loss of more customer contracts is easy to predict.
