Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Finance Layoffs 2024

Hi guys! What’s the 411? The talk here in Bellevue is most of finance is moving to OP. Is there an official move date yet?

I hope they get rid of the old TMO people. They are about worthless. The only way to be successful is to reinstate the sprint processes which made us successful after the Nextel merger.

Are you high? Sprint collapsed and laid off thousands because of the processes and the Nextel Merger and thus why Sprint no longer exists. All that does exist is a Yellow version of T-Mobile (the New Sprint).

Definitely has not gone away. Several jobs from finance and procurement are now being reposted in OP.

This seems to have gone away. There have been several opportunities for leadership to provide updates this week … but… crickets. The more time passes less likely to happen IMHO

Cheers for now ✌️

Regarding the Frisco procurement question, it's anybody that's not in OP. A lot of that is Bellevue, but could also be Frisco. Everything is getting consolidated into OP, for the teams that get absorbed into the MSC, as that's where it will be based. I don't think Mike Simpsons has said which teams will move yet, has he? I think his email said he would announce by end of April.

I love how all the replies so far are all completely useless.

Um, no...the cost of living analysis is relevant and real.

Do you know if Frisco procurement is moving to OP or just Bellevue teams. We bought a house not too long ago after moving from California. We just got the kiddos settled. Moving the children again would be horrible.

I love how all the replies so far are all completely useless. Long live spam. Here's what's actually going on. BTW, there is another thread on this topic just a few topics down. Please look before starting a new thread.
Dara Bazzano is moving all of FinOps to OP. That's about 130 people. Part of accounting is also affected. And, part of procurement under Mike Simpson will also be impacted. In total, this will be 3-400 people moving to OP. This is part of Finance project elevate. Not just replacing SAP with Oracle, but also transforming people. Hopefully no other groups are impacted.

Yes, OP is the place to be. Lower cost of living, better quality of life, lower salary and power will shift back. WA too expensive for the masses. Go Chiefs!!!

https://news.theregistryps.com/t-mobile-plans-to-vacate-330000-sqft-in-office-space-near-firms-bellevue-headquarters/

So they

  1. Abandoned the Commons 90 Campus after a 2023 lease expiry
  2. Trying to sublet the 3 buildings at 90 North (lease expires in 2029)
  3. Abandoned the Sunset Campus after a 2023 lease expiry.

Add this to a 2030 lease expiry on the Bellevue HQ, and there's more than enough evidence for T-MO to want to move out the Seattle area, where costs of living and operating a business are 35% higher than in Kansas City (per Nerd Wallet's Cost of Living calculator).

TMO breaks leases all the time. Look at east campus that was whacked. I suggest reserving the U-Haul sooner

Well, the lease on the Bellevue campus runs through 2030, so sometime in the next 6 years?
