Tough guy, huh. Does he think he's untouchable?

@hn9 Things are nutz. I feel sorry for anybody who is firing people during this economy. This isn't the time to mess with peoples livelihood. They're gonna hold a grudge for who knows how long. I rather quit before the wrong person gets pi---d off.

@hff I heard some leaders frame it as "performance based". If your manager, or their superior is out to get you, you are getting a lower rating relative to others on the team.

One director in particular is known to g-n for you if he gets even a hint you are interviewing.

@h7h Two specific areas like always. Marketing and engineering..

Are these rumors specifically about engineering? There has been no hint of that in cx. In fact, it’s the opposite. This whole thread feels 🧌 🧌

Layoffs will be beginning of January. Probably Jan 6.

It would be sickening if it was mid-December. January will be a blood bath.

@b5j Don't forget data from MS Teams.

@b4k there are metrics being collected through various channels. Slack and confluence activity being one of them. I noticed a sudden uptick in managers making non-sensical posts, clearly AI-driven.

@86a managers are gaming slack by feeding responses through ChatGPT. This is due to the layoffs coming in Q1.

Q1 layoffs confirmed in engineering.

People got laid off today, and there was a flattening of the org.

I suspect there will be another cut in February, before bonuses.

@3ts new leadership will likely clean house. That’s what Andy and Michelle do. Old team members are not going to outlast them being lazy.

@4ad Oh, cryptic prophecies from the shadows? Do tell, Anonymous Oracle—will these "changes" involve golden parachutes or just a swift kick out the door? Can't wait for the middle management apocalypse.

It’s pretty obvious who actually hits the gym and who’s been putting in serious reps... with cupcakes. 🧁🐷

Oh, so we’re finally confessing that the gym is basically our second home? Shocking. It’s not like there’s anything else to do.

Seal it into your mind.

@3ts this company does have an upside. I can fully empathize with people who retire early, and eventually become so devoid of purpose, they go back to work.

Find what you want to do.

I know multiple lead engineers who can never leave. Even with deep study.

They’re fu---d and playing games.

After a while, it gets rather boring working ~5-10 actual hours a week. You start to feel guilty about earning such a good salary whilst doing basically nothing.

The time saved not working is best spent looking for one's next gig, preferably one with even more pay, at a better company with an actual viable product line and future, and true growth potential. All of those are lacking at Alteryx.

I do think that much of the new Marketing leadership who has come in, won't be around in another 18-24 months at most. It's just going to take them a full year to realize the dead end that the company is in, and then another 6+ months to land their next gigs at REAL companies.

Meanwhile the hangers-on at Alteryx Marketing will keep hanging on, doing what they do best. Such low ambition and desire to actually advance themselves. Sad.

@jr They are probably hoping that people will self opt out and find new jobs. It would save them having to pay severance. Andy is really big on managing on regretted / ungretted attribution and probably wants the herd to cull itself instead of vice versa.

Marketing here. I work about 7 total hours per week.

I know right?!? If they only knew. And honestly, nobody will admit it, but at least half of marketing is doing <10 hours per week.

It’s glorious !!

@2ps No joke. Marketing here. I work about 7 total hours per week. Not counting 3-4 meetings that I usually attend from gym. 😀

Don't need any more Yayz! This is perfect.

we barely work 3-4 hours per week, lol.

This is so true! So many of us millenials and Gen Z's in Marketing have made an art form of working perhaps 5 hours a week, yet constantly complaining about how stressed and over-worked we are. It's been glorious to get paid $150+K and yet doing the bare minimum. All that's missing is the kudos and the rah-rah we used to get all the time under the previous CMO regime......

Our CMO directed all people managers to discuss the structural changes with their teams this week.

Is that why? My manager hasn't said anything.

In light of the restructuring, you will begin reporting to someone else before month’s end.

Should you observe that your current manager shows little interest in any matter…
