Thread regarding SAP layoffs

SAP Ghost Jobs

Christian and Dominik keep talking about 2% layoffs every year. At the same time, SAP has around 2000 jobs posted on the SAP Careers website. I compared these jobs with the ones in the internal portal. Also applied to quite a few internally and had a few friends apply for some externally. And my hypothesis is this:

The jobs on SAP CAREERS and SAP INTERNAL PORTAL are GHOST JOBS. Either there is already a "preferred candidate" or the job doesn't exist but they still post it.

Why is SAP doing this? Hiring in most areas is almost non-existent right now and a few are leaving due to the bad culture and executive rhetoric.

@m9 - I'm sorry it was perceived this way because I never said either statement that you just mentioned I had, which is making me chuckle a bit. I never said he/she wasn't good enough - I'm not here to insult people, just to point out reality. I merely commented that they sound frustrated and possibly didn't get an interview. I also never said that all posted jobs are real. Is there a language barrier here? Because I never said either of those things. I'm sorry if you're a very bad week or two - maybe you're not, and you're just very passionate about ghost jobs! ;)

@ha you said that ALL internal offers are real and if he's not interviewed it's because he's not good enough.

That's what was an astonishing lie.

It's not because you were called (an exception) that all offers are real.

Managers at SAP post offers internally AFTER recruiting so nobody can compete with the person they like because simply he/she's not the best candidate and if they interview everybody they'll have to justify their decisio... sometimes they create an offer for a specific person: I can't tell my location but it's in EU.

@cw I'm so sorry to "astonish" you with actual facts. I agree that in this political environment and economic period, actual facts seem astonishing. However, to note: the OP posted a "hypothesis" (his/her own word) that sounds like a conspiracy.

Further, he/she posted that all the jobs on the board are ghost jobs, when I'm here to tell you that they're not, because mine was actually posted. That was the point - there's no vast conspiracy here to post ghost jobs.

How astonishing! :D

I don’t think the board would let HR post ghost jobs.

What would be the point?

People who blame the "Alt Right" for things have a habit of lumping anything they disagree with in with the "Alt Right."

You'll never figure out how to address your employment situation if you're chasing exaggerated boogeymen. I'm on the political right. I don't know anyone who is actually "Alt Right." In fact we make fun of them regularly.

Most of the current US Republican party would be considered moderate Democrats only 20 years ago. Democrats were for border enforcement and had only recently began supporting things like g-y marriage.

Seeing this brought up yet again by you lunatics makes it much more satisfying to sit back and watch this company decline so rapidly. You all deserve it.

@c0 it's astonishing how you try to give someone a lesson because he point it out a real problem even highlighted by HR.

If your experience was positive, it's good for you, but it's far from reality.

It's absolutely true that offers published in internal posting are done AFTER recruiting: it's just administrative because they have to.

You can contact the recruiter, currently they won't answer you and just ignore your email because they can't tell you that they already hired someone before they published the offer.

Currently there's a hiring freeze, especially in western Europe, which might make sense taking into account the uncertainty of the global economy.

We're here to express our opinions based on our own experience and location.

Not sure what the "alt-right" is, but global corporations do use transnational labor arbitrage to get cheap compliant labor.

It's destabilizing to western countries as it undercuts the middle class that might have political power that the elites don't want them to have and dilutes the high trust culture.

You may not like the dialog, but these are facts and cannot be disputed.

I disagree with the way the alt right has been brigading this forum. But at the same time, it’s hard to disagree with the Reddit post. It’s spot on. HR at SAP is part of the bigger problem. And some of them get paid more than engineers and don’t add as much value as engineers. The only reason I see SAP invest in HR so much is that we need HR to manage the fallout when our executives are so employee-unfriendly.

@OP Based on the time you posted (47 minutes ago) and the time of the first response (48 minutes ago) I’d hazard a guess that you had the first response prepped and ready to go. Nice one on the rage-baiting.

And yes, some roles are established with candidates in mind. But most are not.

3 words- starts with incompetent HR, discrimination and ageism

The standard looking rejection is BS. This is the result of years of giving d-mb as--s a job in HR which was considered a fluff/eye candy role without proper qualifications. I have seen this sh-t in startups where HR is run by the founders or finance head.

And what happens? They hire interns from any stream into HR specifically to cover administrative tasks- enter payroll information, sick notes, leaves and balances, expense claims, and of course the occasional Friday pizza party sh-t and screening of CV’s and candidates - with zero training and zero qualifications of how to do this effectively. Add to that since 2022 they get a 1000 CV’s for every post. How the fu-k do you think they get by when they are literally unqualified for this highly technical role.

Inadvertently years pass and these interns now believe they are the donkeys ba--s in HR because they are made managers and can see people’s pay and well… next thing you know they start creating their own red flags 🚩 to screen cv’s and reject candidates : all these are right up there

any gap in your cv even if it’s for a few months

not adding dates but only keeping it as years in your cv to disguise your actual exp while applying for mid level jobs

calling your self a consultant or freelancer in between jobs

pivoting from your existing career or function thinking it’s a great opportunity to apply your skills to a new sector or career or just looking to move into what we Germans call “transferable skills jobs” REJECTED, even though the JD says we welcome applications even if you only answer 50% of the requirements 5)B2 - C1 level German - rejected !!! Because it’s not enough anymore . Native speakers is what they look for

yiu didn’t add a picture to prevent them from conscious bias - rejected ; yiu didn’t add a cover letter - rejected; you decided to copy paste exactly what was asked in the JD- rejected because that found other candidates more qualified to do what I have no idea?

you don’t come from the specific “think Netflix/think tinder/think Spotify” jargon infested business that has nothing but signs of COPY PASTE all across their website

your LI or CV showcases that you are over 45and applying for manager level jobs- rejected

And finally- because HR (in between organising all those friday beer and pizza parties) just didn’t have the time nor opportunity to scan 1000’s of CV’s that came in through the actual proper recruitment channel after making them upload their CV and the renter every f-kin bit of information manually once again .

Why? because her bestie in accounts who goes out for drinks and enjoys pizza party Fridays is a PERFECT cultural fit and obviously gets the job !
