Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

"security update" now locked out of laptop

sigh...did anyone else experience this today. This morning, all of a sudden, I had a notice on my laptop along the lines of "Nike has a security update that requires a restart in 1 hour". (never have seen anything like that before) Wouldn't you know it...after a restart, and my attempt to log in, I see "User blocked for signing in".

I am an ETW worker. Is this Nike's way of saying "so long"? With no communication or warning? Cool, cool. I don't mean to over-react, maybe it's some fixable issue. With all the "change" going around this feels very suspect.

Yes. Security updates will only go to employees about to be fired. Nike trusts the tenured enough to not bother updating their systems.

A security update is a sign you are not trusted and need better system protection

You must be new. They do these about every 3-4 months.

I also got that update. Now I am scared to restart. 5/8 ETW on my team have been told that next Friday is their last day

@OP ge-z, I'm sorry, all...I was able to get this one squared away (I'm not being dismissed or anything like that, yet). I think I reacted because of all the layoffs, contract cancellations, etc. going on.
