@170 they may be able to rent out a few floors. Market in Calgary is atrocious + no one wants to be in QP.

@h1 only the west and north building. Not the entire campus.

@na that's only the north and west building which have been empty since early 2023. I just looked. At the site you mentioned.

@na Not the whole building...we've been trying to rent the west portion out for years. This isn't new..

@he I remember… I remember that the leading concept for a campus location was the north west corner of the intersection of Crowchild and Glenmore trails. Where the Adco campus is now.

There were drawings as well mistakenly left on printers where they shouldn’t have been, showing a QP campus long before the decision was supposedly officially made. The XOM expats were sloppy in their management of information. Surprise surprise, it’s not them who had to suffer the loss.

And then there was a kickback/massive discount thrown in by Remington to convince the XOM decisionmaker to go to QP instead, because they’d already assumed that they were getting the contract and started developing.

Shittiest decision ever at imperial oil and proof that corporate separateness is a convenient lie. It was the beginning of the end for Imperial oil in Canada and Calgary.

Search LoopNet.ca (link couldn’t be pasted here). QP is listed by CBRE.

@a7 Those giant companies never do preliminary communication. The Bay’s employees know the layoff decision from news…

Seems like I been lied to. Typical for this company.

Regardless. WINTER IS COMING

@jt Incorrect. Imperial owns QP. It was purchased in 2016 once everyone moved in. Also, EM owns Houston campus,

Imperial does not own QP, that is correct. Just like EM does not own Houston HQ Campus.

For some reason I recall (thought) that we (Imperial) didn’t own QP. We fronted the initial capital to build it back in 2012 or whatever it was. Sold it to Remington and leased it back….anyone else recall that?

@fd Could be, but Scona doesn’t have enough space.

It’s more than just a QP play. Campus is 50% empty and nobody has been interested in leasing the empty buildings. Also QP has been silently on sale the last two years, with no takers.

@gn sounds like a great way to drive attrition...

@fd. No one wants to move to Sarnia. IOL will not pay for QP employees relocations.

To quote JW “one of the things I’m most proud of is the way we look out for one another”. Sounds like he’s a liar, as he’s about to eliminate the livelihood of his employees or force them to uproot their families for literally no benefit to them (I’m sure he’ll get a head pat from DW). How does this stupidity, with no business value, represent “connection, compassion and care”? Maybe you shouldn’t listen to someone who wouldn’t know anything about positive relationships, or care for other humans.

QP upstream headed to EDM. QP downstream to Sarnia research building.

With a large number of WFH employees and two idled buildings, QP is like a ghost town most of the time. It's ironical that you see more contractor facilities maintenence staff than actual employees. The cafeteria is boring with limited optiond and barely functional. The campus can best be described as a white elephant. What a shame.

Quarry Park folks already basically WFH. Just stay at home and see what comes out of it. They will all soon be replaced by BTC and KLTC anyways.

@am it's overvalued with no major future increases in revenue. It will drop at some point as oil does.

They aren’t going to give employees preliminary information. A public announcement will happen at the same time that employees find out. Rumour is something is coming September 29.

Does someone know something we don't? Rumors are spreading like wildfires. Wish they would just come out with some preliminary communication.
