Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

A holiday week

I'm newish here so I'm not sure how this works but some of you might know. Does T-Mobile ever lay people off during a holiday week? I know I'm grasping at straws here, but I have to ask.

@gzt+1op5JhuK there wasn't enough people to warrant layoffs then. Bad mgt and an abundance of people has made it all possible now.

TMO grew too fast, the merger, removal of the wrong systems - we are all now paying the price. TMO people got promoted just because a position came open, not that they actually had the skillset to hold the new position, it shows - no skill needed, just the buddy system. Old Sprint SLT ran the company to the ground - NEXTEL was f'cked up and the good leaders all jumped ship, wanted nothing to do with trying to build anything new. We have built a damn wreck - TOGETHER.

You guys need to stop blaming one pre merger company over the other. They are both at fault. There was never a real post merger community and there still isn't. Us and them is 100% in full effect.

But the TMO way is to not be accountable for anything. Marcus got 1 thing right... "THIS IS THE WAY"

I think it's fair to be critical of senior leaders from Sprint because they're the reason the company ended up failing. But the average non-execitive employee, agreed.

Many people on this board are way too negative on Sprint.

I've worked at T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint over the years (i.e., intern, employee, Consulting) and I never saw a measurable difference in the quality of employees at those various companies.

Before Sprint, we didn't have Deanne "the Undertaker" King as our head of HR. She came over and took over T-Mobile HR as "Chief People Officer" and basically put all Sprint HR in charge. That's why we operate as the New Sprint.

My entire leadership( apart of an HR ops team) is made up of sprint leaders , you can tell that bad because when you call one out, the whole leadership has that one persons back as if they all are friends. “I’ve known so and so for 20 years from sprint, they are a great leader.” Meanwhile that 20 year employee from sprint was never a leader in sprint but they wanted to rid T-Mobile leaders so bad, they put unqualified sprint people in leader positions for the 1st time and completely brought the team now.

Some people are assuming Ulf's org won't cut deep because of prior cuts. Wrong. Also keep in mind that Ulf has a much larger org now that he took filled Neville's prior role.

T-Mobile never laid off tons of folks... they didn't have so many people that didn't do anything... I see Sprint folks in continual meetings, accomplishing nothing

I'll place a large bet that Deanne will be "retiring" before EOY. Absenteeism, morale, etc. And the CEO ain't gonna fire himself, he will throw her overboard.

HR is always the last to go! So cannot wait to see all the racist recruiters and practitioners of DEI canned.

“ So elsewhere we've seen that 5000 are to be laid off and about 2700 or so are already gone. I think Ulf's share of the bloodletting is going to be somewhere between 500 and 1000. That leaves between 2K and 1500 for Mikey Katz and his Katzenjammer kids.”

They worded it as 5000 positions, not necessarily 5000 employees. Actual casualties may be higher.

Yep, all those same Sprint HR folks I fled halfway across the country from, still there.

Most of the layoffs seem to be later in the week with Thursdays being the most popular so a short week won't slow them down. Rumor is that the week of 9/5 will be technology and Ulf's org. possibly fewer there given the deep cuts last year so easier for a short week.

I was laid off on Thursday 8/31. I heard it's 50% of consumer group. I feel like pouring ur--e on this laptop of theirs. Sorry, just venting because I'm upset.

Before Sprint, T-Mobile didn’t lay off en masse. Post Sprint, any week is a good week for a layoff. RNEO and market operations is getting it this coming week. It won’t end in September either, this is the new modus operandi. Ask all the Sprint people what it was like with the everlasting fear for your job for the last 10-15 years, this is what we have here now. Every Friday was “is it my turn?”
