Anyone actually work their 2 weeks?

Well put it this way. If you attach your resignation to a brick and throw it through HR's window, you won't have to wait long at all!
They let me work my 2 weeks, and the exit transition was basically flawless.
This is the only way to treat it in any scenario. Get what you need 1st. Haven't they proven that they are incompetent recently with RTO? I mean a small PTO of an elementary school could have put RTO together more coherently than these clowns did. Handle what you need before you leave to make your life easier, because if they can f*ck it up, they will.
Gave notice, then locked out of computer. Then the sh-t show started. They needed me to fill out some form but I couldnt log in. They wanted to coordinate laptop return but couldn’t contact me through email. I had a few concur expenses from recent travel but couldn’t submit, so they threatened to send it to collections.
My advice is to get your ducks in a row and just walk in with you laptop and quit.
My FCG just handed in his 2 weeks on Monday. No issue … but if he went to an OEM or supplier then it is immediately
cj+1k2k3fnzh I think I know who you are. Good to see you around and it should prove that you can get two weeks pay if you play your cards right.
Lots of falsehoods and/or people who have never worked at Ford here. If you turn in your notice, your supervisor or manager decide whether to have you work the 2 weeks, whether to let you go immediately, and whether to pay you for the 2 weeks if they let you go immediately.
If they walk you out, you may get zilch, or they can give you pay in lieu. Basically they pay you for the 2 weeks even though you're gone. That's totally optional no matter what your notice says.
Nonsense about turning in notice and taking PTO isn't how it works. Vacation days are paid in final paycheck.
@cj when I worked at GM it seemed inconsistent whether they do or not, and if they walk out or not… so who knows lol
Oh get over it. Do you think Ford will give you advance notice if they lay you off, no. If you're ok being abused like that, good luck to you. But don't whine like a snow flake when others look out for thier best interests. Ford will be just fine.
When I left years ago (2006) to go to a competitor, I provided two weeks notice in my resignation letter. I was walked out the same day but they did pay me for my two weeks.
@c0 usually no, it turns from quitting with notice to being fired when they walk you out
@a3 do you still get paid for the extra 2 weeks?
Had friends who were a married couple, both left for the same competitor. He got walked out, she didn't.
Gave notice on a Friday, was told I would work the 2 weeks. The following Tuesday I was treated like a prisoner and "fired". Was at my new desk that Thursday.
They said "we've decided to separate our services and let you go". I laughed and said I already quit. They were butthurt.
@a3 until they find out it isn’t true and rightfully demand the money back. What is wrong with people!?! Lies and deceit are not ok.
You start offloading your work, give notice, then you take your PTO.
Yes, it's happened. Just tell them you're going to a competitor and it's guaranteed.
@OP. Why risk it? On your last day at Ford, present your 2 weeks notice, saying you are going to a competitor. Instant dismiss, and you get 2 additional weeks of pay while working for another company.
yep, they just asked if I was going to a competitor
Nope
