Thread regarding Synopsys Inc. layoffs

If you were Sassine, what would you do?

Productivity is several times lower than competitors, employee morale has hit an all‑time low, revenue growth is far behind the rest of the industry, and customers are developing AI tools better than us.

If I were in his position, I would initiate a targeted layoff focused on non‑essential roles immediately, followed by a clear public commitment that no major workforce reductions will occur for the next one to two years. This would stabilize the organization, reduce uncertainty, and allow remaining employees to focus on execution rather than worrying about job security.

What is your thought?

@sv
For both companies EMEA is becoming a larger market,
and both companies have immigrant founders,
Fluent ( a big part of Ansys) was founded by Bharatan Patel, synopsys founder is also an immigrant.
US companies will offshore to MARS if it saves a penny in short term.
Try changing wall street greed and enacting laws that incentivize keeping jobs in US

@mw there's a difference between talent and cheap labor

@mw so why exactly are those 4k-5k geniuses scared to open a company in their own country, are they that desperate to take up 30% jobs of an American company?

This has nothing to do with racism , go play victim else where.

Spamming dislike doesn't change the facts.

@g3 Cadence Design Systems employs approximately 4,200 to 5,000+ people across its various Indian facilities, which accounts for nearly 30% of their global workforce. So Mr racist the problem is somewhere else!!

  • Cut 3..4 hierarchy levels out of the currently 9 levels. 9 levels is way ridiculous for a supposed hightech company.
  • Remove dead wood across all levels, test all employees if they really have the right qualification for their jobs, consequently train/requalify the keepers
  • Remove all those non-performance big shots like M.E. and his whole entourage
  • Relaunch a completely new hr department with new hr leaders @top 3 levels
  • Get the Ansys integration done, finally - stop dismantling a once flourishing company.
  • Offer an early retirement program

If I were Sassine, I would have focus on sales, AE, and engineering. I just cannot imagine we have many executive directors who only mange 3 or 4 people.

@gv Looks like I am not the only person who expects a buyout program like Microsoft.

If I were Sassine, I'd set up a voluntary retirement package so all that don't want to be here can leave.

@fy nothing racist about cutting off inefficient subpar talent, make your own company in your country if you're that talented and see how that goes.

Bet you can't.

We don't need you , you need us , don't be ungrateful

Shut down the India offices , they don't contribute much , the talent is sub par at best and slow in execution

I think you're misunderstanding HIS plan - get the stock price up, up, up in the short term.
Cash out and boast that he completed the biggest merger in history.
Having happy, productive employees and a functional company with a long term vision isn't part of that.

@ac It's easy to say, but difficult to act. EDA job market is a small niche. Finding a good job is difficult.
