Center Stage fishing / Feedback Culture

Can we talk about "Center Stage" and the whole Feedback Culture?

Ok, fine, sometimes you want to give an extra "thank you" to someone who went above and BEYOND their job.

But, this fishing for Center Stage compliments for people that are JUST DOING THE JOB THEY ARE ASSIGNED, (and sometimes not even doing it all that well), is too much.

I loathe the day that MetLife started offering rewards and trinkets via Center Stage.

I feel like all these automated feedback things are because when you get right down to it, management has no idea what their employees are doing.

I loathe the constant requests for "feedback". Feedback on a Service Now request?

Oh yes, Service Now, you did an excellent job in accepting my request and writing it to a database.

Just don't try to order an DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. You won't find it. Who can I give feedback to on that?

@gspf+1haETK1W Yep. I hear you. If you manager knows, then I say, "show me the money".

Center Stage is a joke. My manager submitted a recognition for someone on our team who I worked with and trained on a project that turned out to be a big deal. There has been no hiding the fact this person was a favorite. I led the project and helped this person write user stories and test scripts. During a department meeting this person was called out specifically by our VP for her role on the project and for her detailed test scripts. I was happy for her and also thought I was going to hear my name next only to not be acknowledged. I waited a few days to ask my manager why I wasn’t acknowledged. She said “People know you do this and besides it’s your job.”

The best thing I ever saw was about a decade ago when they had a contest to reward people for sending out the most recognition awards. I'd look and see people sending out 20 a day to people. First I thought how are they getting anything else done for their actual job? Then I realized it wa stuff like "____ did a great job organizing a birthday party for ___ and ____ cleaned up the breakroom so we could all go to a meeting.." That was it for me.

If you really want to recognize things, then let's be honest and talk about what happens in front of the curtain and behind where nobody wants to talk about like GOSC and other disfunctional ideas.

People get stuff for CenterStage? Is that only in certain LOBs? All I get for my CenterStages is an automated email. Not even my manager mentions when I get them.

When I was a manager, I'd just divide my points between my directs and send fluff recognitions each quarter. That way I wasn't the manager with points left over on the tracking spreadsheet.

When is the survey sent out for managers?

I love the Service Now surveys, so I can keep reiterating how terrible GOSC are.

Too bad we don’t get real quarterly feedback from managers...

Center Stage recognition is SO SUPER DUPER VALUABLE.

I know for a fact most groups are monitored for how much feedback is given, there are goals for X# of recognitions per quarter. So 95% fake.
