Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

What happened?

I know everyone likes to say that when Andy took over that was the start of things going downhill but clearly there must have been other changes too.

This used to be a company that people were proud to work for but now it just seems like everyone is miserable.

Will Gunjan change things for the better or will it be more of the same?

Good news is economy is turning around and I anticipate there will be more opportunities elsewhere in the next few years. However I would rather see US bank come back to a place people are proud to work for again.

McKinsey Consultants recommend to Andy higher wages for c-suite executives, replacement of engineers and teams with cheap offshore contractors, hiring offshore contractors combined with mandating RTO because "face to face communication is soo important," while many heads of departments or critical SMEs disappeared from either quitting or being fired, while forcing overarching tone deaf enterprise wide mandates with random deadlines using tech stacks that aren't even fully built out before initiating migrations, adding surveillance software and increasing micro managing, while using software that is 10 years behind industry standard and toting implementation of AI and next gen tools when we haven't even caught up to modern development practices. All of this ki-led morale and everyone is just going through the motions. It seems making it clear your employees are disposable cogs in the machine, with no input or value, does not motivate people to work hard or drive passion and loyalty.

I was 10.years too. I mean this the nicest way possible :You are not special.

If it saves your department money, and the day your manager is told to "cut costs", your name will be on an excel list. If you're below that line (Years in, pay is near/at Max for job title, not in a department critical role) you get cut.

Have a Plan B.

These comments are surprising to me, in my district we have low turnover and happy employees. I myself have been here 10 years running and have no intentions on leaving. Things got better my 4th year in and have continued getting better, like longer maternity leave, work life balance and higher pay than our competing banks nearby....

Andy was the cause of the bank's downfall.

No, the economy is not getting any better and if you take off your rose tinted glasses you will see that it is headed in the wrong direction with the tariffs and such.

With all the executives flying to India/Philippines etc. to setup shop out there why would you think the bank is going to make a turn around for its employees or customers. This is a classic textbook case of stripping out a company and getting it ready for a sale. Heck even SVPs are jumping ship ...

...Laying off because all the call centers are now in other countries and it's the most excruciating experience to call in... nobody knows what they are talking about. Even if I go I to a branch, doesn't seem like anybody cares much at all.

Was impacted by the US Bank layoff. Showed up for work ,then they tell me two hrs before I leave ...yeah we're laying you off..with no explanation..I go back to all these executives living luxury, while the rest of us, need to scramble.

Where do you see the economy turning around? We’re about a week out from more tariffs and consumer confidence is down. We’re also coming off of multiple weeks of giant losses in the market.

As for the company: I expect it to get worse. I’m anticipating more layoffs and cost cutting. Roles will be cut to try and get people in at lower wages. Outsourcing will be the name of the game where it can be done.
