Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Is BAE still being billed for most UK costs?

When I left last year we were still under directive to bill everything from training to other UK account expenses to the BAE cost code. Apparently BAE were being billed for every UK staff member but this was not actually the situation in the ground with the run and project areas being staffed by skeleton crews consisting of juniors with no security clearance and gradually diminishing veterans who were leaving for other better paying roles.

When I challenged this I was told explicitly by management and colleagues not to question it as BAE deserved to be expensed out for everything because of their treatment of our staff as whipping boys. But thinking back this seemed incredibly sketchy

Just for reference unless it was a Time and Materials WBS, allocating people to BAE codes is efffectly a pot of contract money DXC is paid for running services. You’re not actually being billed to the client by using a BAE WBS code. T&M codes are usually very specific, this why people being asked to used BAE codes get confused, it’s really for DXC to staff these how they see fit

@gkn+1sf0bwE0 BAE doesn't want that kit back otherwise you could be sure they'd send someone quoting official secrets and prosecution. Your laptop was most likely taken out of the skip to give to you in the first place so os of no value to them. When they operate processes on spreadsheets managed by people who get the same 0% whether they get a laptop back this week or not, this what happens.

BAE's problem is they want to control everything. So you tell them things need doing and they won't do it. You tell them things don't need doing and they insist they are.

If you want stuff done give it to busy people. DXC isn't busy when staff can justify 2+ days to change one or two line of code. Why the clients put up with it is beyond me.

OP is telling the truth, many people at least a few years ago were booking to BAE even though they were not working on BAE.

This is predominantly HPE people.

Not true. I have an internal non billable code for training.

Sounds like someone is just fishing for bs.

DXC dont collect BAE Greenlnk or MODnet laptops from leavers. A few ex dxc colleagues still have theirs. Yellowlk BAE secret network is not secure. Open firewall rules and stuff.

Copperlnk KSA network is barely patched and the engineers can't support it as the only knowledgeable chap died from overwork years ago

BAE paid for a 24hr command center contract but for the first year it was just the ooh service desk according to our ITO boss
