Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

For folks that are 50% wfh, 50% return to office, are they looking at days you swipe in or hours you spend in the office?

Could I swipe in 3x a week, spend a couple hours in office, leave and go home to work?

Of course they could use this as a reason to fire you. But no one is getting fired BECAUSE of non compliance. If you're fired it's because they wanted you gone for some reason and this is an easy justification.

This policy has been a total disaster and has had an huge impact on employee morale. It is a complete joke that employees are now being treated like children and told how many days they have to be in the office - even when it makes no sense.

I have been a WAH high-performing director for 12 years (I’ve always gotten at least 110% of my bonus target). I now drive 2 hours round trip just to sit in an office where there are ZERO people I work with. None of my 18 employees are in this office. So I sit in my office mostly on WebEx all day - just like I could do at home without all the wasted commuting time! Because of the inanity of this and how pi---d off it makes me, I leave the office as soon as I’m able and refuse to log in again at night. I used to work much more than 40 hours per week pre-FOW but, since I’m now being treated like a toddler, I’m not going to work one minute more than I have to.

FOW has basically turned many professional, salaried employees into clock-punchers who are just looking to “get their days/hours in” to meet an arbitrary rule. Such a stupid, counter-productive policy. As soon as I find another good opportunity I’m gone. Several people on my team have told me the same. It’s depressing after 12 mostly good years. Senior leadership has completely lost their way.

Like other have said, they are tracking and watching. Badge swipes are being used to track and plan for data. I knew several on my team though that weren;t complying and nothing was done but that was before the layoffs.
If you manager knows and they're not enforcing, they're just at fault as the employee so just be careful, needless to say they can use this as an excuse to terminate.

HR direction is more than 1/2 the week must be in the office, therefore 20+ hours over 3+ days. Badge swipes and number of hours in office are being monitored. Senior leadership is receiving reports. Not a big deal if you do 19 hours 1 week, but if you make 16 hours/week in the office a habit.... well, you can tell us what the consequences were ;-)

Morris Plains is a ghost town. If they are going to terminate for non-compliance, then almost everyone there should be let go, including me. It's a complete joke for them to say the building is at capacity. Just a lot of name tags on empty cubes for the most part. I was told by my leadership that they're looking at server connectivity vs. badge swipes. It's up to individual leaders as to whether they dig deeper and request reporting or not. FoW has been even more demoralizing than when they took stock options awards away from those under director level. Cigna was the worst thing to ever happen to Express Scripts/Medco. The billionaire thug leader clearly only cares about the shareholders and filling his own pockets. He's a good public speaker, I'll give him that much, but he's morally bankrupt and a hypocrite of the highest order.

Some VPs have made it clear that you can be terminated for not coming into the office 3 days a week under the new phase 2 policy. I know HR can track the access card usage to verify you came into the office in the morning and after lunch, but it is harder to track hours worked, unless the manager or director is on site to verify who is at their desk at 3pm. While it is possible to track location based on the new Zscaler VPN client, I don't see the company digging into this, unless you are not responding to emails or returning voicemails.

First week back for me but that's what I plan to do. Just a shade (like 5 minutes) over 20 hours so I'm doing "the majority of the time".

For those in the office, do you work 2.5 days in the office and 2.5 at home?

I’m curious if anyone received anything in writing regarding your WAH status changing.

HR is tracking both. The policy is over 50% of your week in office, this includes both days and hours. If you are on PTO or there is a Cigna holiday it is subtracted from total days in week.

Some orgs, VPs and Directors don’t care and don’t agree with policy, but I’ve heard some have been upset at lack of compliance. Yet to hear of anyone getting fired for it, but if they want to fire you for a different reason they can use this against you.

My advice is badge in on three days, be there for a total of over 20 hours per week and start looking for a different job.

Be careful! I hear some companies are tracking location via new VPN just downloaded. Tracking IP addressees. I think I read this in USB thread,
