I thought losing my job at Citi would hurt more, but it turned out to be freeing. The nonstop grind and scrambling just wore me down day after day until I could barely remember what normal felt like. I won't lie, it stung for maybe a week or two, but now I'm just relieved to wake up without that weight on my chest. Found a new job within two months, so there's that as well. All in all, a net positive for me.

Got laid off early this year after 20+ years.
No regrets. Already prepared financially, emotionally and mentally that this day will come. The day came and I got to reclaim my time and life.
This was the wake up call for me to start executing on my personal life.
Took the vacation days payout and invested in April and got a very good return to help cushion the blow for the rest of the year.
I can honestly say AI is paying for my retirement.

@gd My layoff meeting was also a "catch up" call but it only had the mgr no hr. They read a script, tell you how much your severance is and when the start of your WARN period is and when the last day is. Enjoy the first month off as a paid vacation, then get to work on apps.

@fy 388 transformation teams, many (incl. my whole team) have been scheduled individual RIF calls for tomorrow, 6/10. HR is not yet shown on the invite but this should be a common trick by hiding HR rep who will be either in the conference room or join the call eventually.
Citi RIFs for others as I sit at 388 making clicky noises on my keyboard to appear busy to the next guy on this empty floor, 25' away. He doesn't know me but I felt guilty. No word of cuts today, but tomorrow I'll bang on the number pad instead.
Took a package last year - it has been the most freeing and stressless period in my life since I started 30 years ago (Jan/96). The change in culture from a private enterprise culture to a very different Federal government culture once Citi brought in new senior leadership from CIA, DHS and NSA was not one for the better.
You can get used to torture.

I hear you. It’s been a blessing, no job yet since March however there is peace and uber 😂 for now. Sometimes simple tasks are mentally rewarding.
I had to settle wo less pay
It’s a feeling only those who have been blessed with a layoff have experienced. Liberating with a sense of self worth with a new beginning. Citi management is toxic to say the least and those in management positions are to blame for the continued decline of the company. It stems from the top and is now a part of Citi culture. It used to be a well respected company until the layoff madness brought on by corrupt Jane. She’ll get her turn soon enough.
I wasn’t canned but hose to retire immediately after cr-ppy bonus (like 5 minutes later (LOL). Most liberating feeling ever. Come on in the waters great..

I was canned earlier this year and locked a new role whwre I know I will learn more than i have in the years ive been at Citi. They arent even golden handcuffs - I will make 30% more in my new role with better benefits. Feeling blessed.
It was just an atrophying experience, realizing that citi has no desire to be competitive in its industry was draining. The good enough is good enough mentality was just so sad to deal with.
I got laid off my first day back from sabbatical and it was a gift I realized. I’ve learned and experienced more in my time at my new role that all my time at citi.
Same. You don’t realize how badly you’ve been abused every single day until you don’t have to experience it anymore.
