Thread regarding Optum layoffs

I'm now confused

With so many different layoff dates being thrown around, I honestly have no idea what’s coming anymore or when. At this point, I can’t even tell whether next week is safe or not.

Optum has done layoffs on tuesdays. I’m not sure why we are fixated on Thursday’s. Given the fact that they are solely hiring Indians offshore and from looks of postings it’s less and less work here - they will carve this company to the bone. By “this company” I mean UHG and its subsidiaries.

@g3 ETIPS..ah. they do need to go. Too many people doing in that department. OT /OI seems too broad, anything particular targeted?

I have seen people laid off everyday of the week from Tue-Fri with probably 75%+ on Thursdays. They have gone into Fridays when there were too many to handle on a Thursday. Most companies try to avoide Mondays and Fridays.

@OP I'm honestly not sure what you don't get?? Has folks have stated here the dates that eventually got landed on are quite good. Aside from that they are 90% on Thursdays although, there have been some instances where Tuesdays have been in play. Those are far less common though. The one that's an absolute guarantee is May 28th. It is going to occur, they have the names in now, and it's going to be OT and ETIPS centric.

What's confusing about layoffs every other Thursday? This has been happening for 5+ years

@ez Do you know what percentage of Q2 and Q3 will be OT?

I was laid off in the March rounds. It was a Thursday morning.

@OP The predictions as far as timing have been quite accurate here. The accuracy on the magnitude of these predictions is harder to gauge because their is no way to get final real counts.

When I was RIFed back in November, 35-40 people were let go in my broad wing of the company. No where near that many folks showed up here to be counted.

The 'stop crying wolf' people on this board are either mental defectives, or disingenuous.

Optum layoffs are nearly always on Thursdays, unless there is some sort of technical/regulatory blocking factor. The pattern this year, for Optum, has been the 3rd or 4th Thursday of each month.

The dates for Jan-April leaked back in January and were shown to be 100% correct.

May 28th and June 25th would follow the same pattern, and frankly, the 4/30 layoff was not as wide spread within OI as was leaked, which lends credence to 2 subsequent rounds happening.
