Thread regarding PNC layoffs

Why managers hate remote work:

  1. They hate their wives
  2. Work is their identity
  3. They hate their families
  4. They love to gossip
  5. Control

Found this on Twitter, and it looks really appropriate. Those are truly the only reasons I can think of why somebody would be so staunchly against WFH, and it's incredibly sad.

PNC needs to let go a lot of managers. They have been promoted because they kiss a*S and they are completly useless. They often times make productivity worse. They sit in useless meetings all day. They also find enjoyment in harassing their subordinates.

@d9 We don't hate our co-workers. We hate wasting 2+ hours per day on the commute into a terrible city. Last week, I saw literal fe--s on the ground outside of the courthouse.

@g1 and you dont think the offshore indians arent working other jobs at the same time, running daycares out of their homes, selling PNC customer info on the side for extra cash, and hiring their own to fill open slots while doing as little as possible using diversity as a shield?
Remind me again, who is abusing WFH?

A lot of people abused WFH and the tracking software proved it, now they're just replacing them with more offshore workers and bots. I know of a department that took on a bunch off offshore contractors, trained them and was told a few managers and a lot of employees were being let go after training them to do their work .

Here’s an idea: you be responsible for the productivity of 20-100 other people and see what you come up with. Then understand that not every job is some acronym laced back room quant that “sits on team calls all day”.

For every one of you who thinks office-favoring people “hate their wives and families” there are two people who are sick and tired of your name calling and derision.

By your logic you “hate” your teammates and are an anarchistic rebel who wants to run our company from a spare bedroom. Appreciate the different perspectives and rant to your dog. We’re tired of it.

Why do you think managers hate remote work? I am a manager and if someone is at least meeting expectations, I see no reason for them to be in the office. I do expect my team to be fully engaged.

  1. WFH is a threat to middle management because it exposes bigtime how useless they are and not needed
