They are taking personal days away as of Jan 1. We will only have accrued PTO and I doubt they will add to our PTO to make up for some of that loss.

@2vf-It depends on the state honey, some states have a law that PTO must be paid out if you are terminated or quit.

@dk lmfao! They are doing it because they know, come first of the year, there will be a mass exodus, and that way, they dont have to payout as much. The company is a complete joke, and anyone who choose to stay will go down with that's ship!
Accrued PTO and now the new policy of not front loading Personal Holidays is a way that Belk avoids giving all employees their PTO. Everyone knows it.

@kq There are actually a few business reasons for moving from front-loaded personal days to accrued PTO:
– It keeps things consistent for everyone across the company.
– It helps prevent large payouts when someone leaves right after using their front-loaded time.
– It aligns time-off usage with actual worked time, which is pretty standard practice with most businesses now.
Also, store non-exempt associates with over one year of service start the new year with at least 25 accrued PTO hours already, since November through January are blackout periods anyway due to holiday and inventory scheduling. By the end of January, that total’s around 30 hours accrued.
So if someone wants a post-inventory vacation, all they’d really need to do is leave about 10 hours unused by late October — then they’d have a full 40-hour week off waiting after inventory.

Why not front load personal days? why add them to accrued pto?
it's another underhanded way belk prevents employees from taking all their time off. Shameful. Belk knows with all their insane black out days that employees (especially store level) will not be able to take their days. That just makes the employees call out sick to get all their days in, and who can blame them? I would do the same thing. Belk su-ks.
Yes personal days are being rolled into accrued PTO. They are not being taken away.

Let’s calm this down with facts.
Personal days aren’t being “taken away.” Starting Jan 1, 2026, those hours will simply roll into your PTO accrual. You’ll still have the same total time — just earned gradually instead of front-loaded.
If you want to approximate your new accrual rate, just add 40 hours to your yearly PTO amount, then divide by 26 pay periods — that should be your updated accrual rate.
The updated accrual chart will be released after Jan 1.
