One VP + one senior director are already over half million…. 25 millions are not that many.

@fy From the 2025 annual report, there were "severance costs due to a restructuring of $79 million" in 2023. That was supposed to be about 2,000 people, so maybe we're looking at about 500 now. But severance had to be more generous in 2023, so it might be alot more than 500 this year.

@15y

  1. Covid lockdowns - decimated small businesses, among many other crimes.
  2. Covid vaccine mandates have ki-led or maimed untold millions while the CDC lies about it even while the VAERS database confirms it.
  3. Refusal to suppress "peaceful protests" while retaliating against those protecting themselves from said protests.
  4. Modern Monetary Theory which states you can simply print money by the trillions, which is exactly what the Biden administration did. He spent us so deep in the hole we may never recover.

That ain't even for starters. But you just keep regurgitating your NPR talking points.

@rs unfortunately this is not accurate. Our severance packages are not nearly what they were a few years ago.

@14f same reply as below- @14e Please cite the specific Biden legislation that dismantled the economy. I’ll, in turn, cite two examples of Biden legislation that in fact worked to rebuild the economy following Trump’s disastrous first term: 1. CHIPS and Science, and 2. Inflation Reduction. Unless you’re familiar with how these two pieces of legislation actually impacted our economy, I’d wager that you haven’t idea what you’re talking about. There is a direct link between the OBBB and the sh!tshow happening in our field. I’ll leave the research to you but here if you have questions.

@14g Explain how reality makes him a "clown". You can't because you do not have facts to back you up, only leftist talking points. Guess that makes you the clown. Su-ks doesn't it?

@ga TDS cognitive dissonance on full display. You may hate the guy, but facts are facts. He's not the one who spent the previous 4 years dismembering our economy. But you just go right ahead and believe what you are told.

@db Severance package = 2 weeks salary for every year of service.

@ga This! At least if you downvote, explain it so we can understand your logic. It doesn’t really matter though. I loathe each and every one of you Red Hats.

@eh Trump voters cognitive dissonance on full display. You may love the guy, but facts are facts. Him and his GOP cronies cut Medicaid and finally destroyed his most hated “Obamacare” by a thousand cuts. Ambetter is now a shell of what it was. The fact that so many of you can’t even admit this doesn’t bode well for our society. Elections have consequences. Sadly, you people are going to drag the rest of us down with you.

@ft I’d be curious to see the severance spending in 2023 as well, the larger RIF.

Context matters. For comparison - what did Centene spend on severance in 2025?

Coworker got a layoff notice a couple of months ago. One month medical and then COBRA after that.

Hopefully anyone who voted for Trump is willing to quit because the OBBB is largely, largely responsible for this MESS.

@db do you need to include the cost of health insurance as well? Usually folks get a few more months of that after being laid off.

So can someone ELI5 that part of the earnings report? To me it’s essentially saying they’re estimating that for the full year the estimated cost of severance payouts will be between $20m and $24m (the low and high numbers I assume given those are the bands for the chart of that guidance section). Is that correct?

And I would assume that only some of that has already been accounted for.

Not sure what the average severance package looks like here though so it’s hard to estimate what that would translate to. I ended up here because of consultant driven layoffs at one of our competitors and we got three months severance.

Three months of severance for a thousand people averaging out at $20k each would put it at the lower end of the band though, and that would be an average salary of $80k. So, unless the severance packages are going to be really generous we’re looking at a lot of cuts again.

God I hate McKinsey.
