Look at the list of wrongful acts Cigna has been sued for. This is why they are laying off. Gotta cover those losses right? Don't believe David or Bryan addressed any of these in any meeting?
Millions upon millions paid by this company for doing unethical/fraudulent practices. What a great company we work for eh?
The Cigna Group was accused of mismanaging the forfeited funds in its 401(k) plan, and a settlement was reached in a case against Intuit Inc.

BEST ONE OF ALL? WHY DID CIGNA SELL MEDICARE?
Cigna has agreed to pay a total of $172 million to resolve these allegations.
Cigna has been the subject of several lawsuits regarding fraudulent billing practices related to its Medicare Advantage plans. These practices include submitting inaccurate diagnosis codes for enrollees to boost payments from Medicare, a violation of the False Claims Act.

Q2 net income remained flat at only $1.5B. Apparently that’s not good enough and means that heads must roll.
The real reason for the layoffs is the poor financial state of the company. Their announced 2025Q1 profit was a measly $1.3B. Shameful!!
Didn’t Eric Palmer get let go because of his bad financial decisions? Also Noelle Eder spent a lot of money on technology and she didn’t provide anything new. These two are part of the cause for money savings hence JE and / or VRP.
So what solid, verifiable information are you sharing? Or just sniping today?
All speculation…
Um… no.
The most likely reason is the bloating of certain departments. My team in CIP does very little work to justify their existence yet here we are earning six figures each while layoffs happen all around us to people doing real work. I'm amazed that we haven't been hit yet. The second anyone important asks our boss what we do on a day to day and they'll realize the three of us are doing one person's job which they'll source out of HIH. I've been frantically applying everywhere for months now as a safety net and no offers. Doesn't help that our boss spends half his time "Away" on WebEx or leaving early to golf.
Wow, $172 million is a lot of money, need to cut a lot of jobs to save it up to that amount.
Every insurer gets hit with fines.
They build it into the pricing.
Cigna is laying off because costs are rising faster than revenues and personnel cuts are the quickest way to stop the bleeding.
