Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

To the poster who said - feel the need to come here from time to time

Why? No one is masochist forever, right?

@OP I left voluntarily, for more pay, because I know poor strategy and execution when I see it.

I realize few were affected by the words "business", "cost optimization" and the like. People felt their work drove results in their own silo, even when the business is losing money for long. They were upset when got hit by the big words. Is that it? You are upset at teradata, the business?

People make up business. IC, 1st and 2nd level people managers. They scramble when surprise hit them. Shattering the core idea they were part of something bigger, the business. You are upset at the business after the fact, I get it. But do you realize that your frustration turned into wishing ill to the average joe? Deep down you do, but why? That's it. That was my point in asking the philosophical question.

People from far and near will post as IHV and super engineer. Being forever upset at previous employer ain't good. But you do, what you do. I cannot change you or the grown-children from san diego. Often times I cannot tell if folks who are paid to make decisions are born evil or practice to be stupid. Guess we'll never know.

There will be layoff. You are not surprised, are you? Going by the comments here, not many people come here anymore. It's gotten so bad, that people are not even shocked by the news anymore. Look around you, stay or leave - your chocie. Happy New Year. Yes you too kid.

@vz As was said before I enjoy watching Teradata fail because of the choices leadership has made over the years.

The business loses money year over year but ELT and board compensation remains the same or goes up.

At this point its time to start over and I think we all know who needs to be replaced. (Hint its ELT and the Board)

@r6 IHV call sign is used by more than one. Why would they do that? Why would you visit and comment here? Were you associated with teradata, ever? Were you hurt by something or someone? Rhetoric questions.

@qe why would I be on this forum if I didn't work for Teradata?

san diego smartypant, please stop complaining. It's not about you. fx does not have to answer your hyperbole. Did not have to answer to OP. Learn some motor skill, improve your EQ, stay relevant. Wait, you work for teradata? Do you really? Who knows.
@fx assuming you are responding to the OP question - Each layoff upends someones life. At teradata it's very normal now, but each one has to experience what you and others went through. Although I honestly do not understand how we still have 25 people on call, 15 on mute, 3 volunteers with no idea what they are upto, and 0 accountability. Nothing gets done till next panic call. There is room for more cut. I do not wish sudden loss of job to anyone, but we can cut 70% overnight including me and customer will not know a difference. Teradata folks are mostly past expiry date and unemployable today, including me. But these are still real people, families. Why would anyone enjoy their suffering? You found a new home, the new employer validated your experience. Is that not enough reason to move on? Or at least not enjoy the demise?
Ignore the toy home owner.

@h9 Haha nice try.

The things I was working to get implemented didnt happen and guess what? Teradata has lost money every year since.

Let me ask you a question. How do you look in the mirror every day knowing that you and Teradata are failures?

Tick tock, its just a matter of time until the game is over.

@fx You never answered my question what did you do to better Teradata? Imo I think you are at fault for not putting your best foot down.

I come here because when Teradata layed me off I knew that I was doing the right thing + trying to influence positive change.

Now that Ive worked at other companies they've confirmed that I was right while Teradata management and leadership were wrong.

At this point its just fun watching the Teraturd swirl the bowl on its way down failing at everything possible. (Teradata Possible)

Happy for you that you have some home equity, buddy...you might need a HELOC when Teradata decides to let you go.

May be you are still in your parent's basement, and just in case they forgot to tell you to be optimistic no matter what, and obviously you bunked the empathy class in your first grade - do not speak for others, STFU. This OP.

I can tell you why they are still here, because they are a failure and want to somehow make themselves feel better by visiting this forum and thinking that it is Teradata that's the problem not them.

To that OP, prove me wrong... What did you bring to Teradata, why should they regret laying you off? From what I see I think it was a good decision
