Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Working at Oracle is like some sort of private he-l

Or at best it's like being in purgagory. A nightmare you never wake up from. It just keeps getting worse and worse.

By definition, Purgatory has an end, but He-l does not.

We heard allll the rumors, info, whispers, etc when it was IBM vs ORCL.

Do you know why it went to ORCL instead of IBM? Because IBM would NOT agree to golden parachutes for the Execs and ORCL would. That's it. Even Schwartz felt IBM was the better deal and better fit but was totally steamrollered.

Basically it was the save their own hides and a big middle finger to everyone else else.

The nightmare is still alive for me. No proof of anything.

There are a few good things to say about Austin, like I don’t live there!

OP, I think you are really going to "enjoy" being relocated to Austin TX! Just when you think it can't get any worse................ IT DOES!

Nah, O was seriously sh I t t y way before the JAVA acq (at least get the ticker correct, that happened before the acq).

Lots of folks from Sun were lured away to O, and many boomeranged back in the decade before O took over.

We heard allll the rumors, info, whispers, etc when it was IBM vs ORCL. Neither was thrilling but O was considered to be the worst of the two. Turned out to be as bad due to the ridiculous co-CEO era, with axman supreme Hurd at the point.

20 years ago Oracle was a unicorn company everyone in tech was interested in learning or working for. But something radically changed about a decade ago that sent this company on a downward spiral.

Yes, the acquisition of SUNW. Downhill slide ever since.

So WHY are you still at Oracle? If it’s this bad for you, then find something better and get outta there.

“Career Inertia” is always a problem with employees, maybe it’s the fear of going somewhere that may expect more of you, but likely it’s just wanting to stay with what’s familiar.
