@2zz I'll add something. Set boundaries. I saw too many times, where account managers were offering things for free where they should not have been, and it turned into lost revenue. There is such a thing as nickel and diming yourself to death.

@2zz I was in a team and 80% of the team went to Cisco overnight, I was bummed out that I wasn't invited over, but Cisco clearly handpicked who they wanted. I lasted another 7-8 years at Avaya after that

@2jj As a college professor who spent 10 years at Avaya, quite a few topics can be used as great examples of that NOT to do:

  1. Don't flip flop - examples include the engagement with the channel and the whole Nortel Portfolio
  2. Don't invest in a position that you can't be in the Top-3 (this is really a GE thing) but the example I use is th whole Nortel Data Portfolio.
  3. Don't be blindsided by something that was obvious to everyone else. Great example is when a whole team left to go to Cisco and it was a massive brain drain. This team should have been treated like gods, not like baggage (not I was not one of them but I felt the pain when they left)
  4. Listen. Most of the smart people were begging for a cloud solution and the executives and owners (board) kept saying the channel and telco will do it for us. They did not.

I could keep going but you guys all know this already. This company will unfortunately run out of money soon.

@2e2 Yes, a case study in MBA classes on the worst management decisions to avoid, and this will be in the top 10 at least.

I do wonder if the company wide voluntary layoff will become a case study like Circuit City's layoffs of their top performers.

I can say that, without a doubt, Avaya is not putting the customer first.

My "$.02"

  1. Bravo to PD for dumping the ineffective and sad Communications Group who survived via BUYING planted good press in the Pay2Play world. The placements only played a smoke and mirrors game with competitors as no clients worthy to market to cared to read those BS insiders-insider RAGS. Only vendors read them.
  2. Don't forget this -- PD never intended to be Avaya CEO. He was BoD chair who just wants to dump Avaya for Apollo/Brigade. He didn't engage when the powers-that-be created this mess (ST, ML, etc) and allowed AM to hire ML as his successor. It wasn't until it became clear that ML only likes to hire friends and created a lot of problems that he stepped in. So don't expect him to care if you like him or not. He just needs to flip Avaya for the current owners in any which way he can.

What's amazing is how Avaya can't see the forest for the trees. They claim to sell the best "Customer Experience", yet they at the same time tell a large portion of their own "customer" base; we don't care about you anymore. Their words and slogans are just word salad, their actions with people is where the truth lives.

@1a3 how about 1 level higher….a CEO that engages people negatively on social media. He barely engages with employees.

Pop the Popcorn..

Observing the CEO/Chairperson of the BoD meltdown a la Batman and his empty-minded narcissist protege circa 2022 in response to keen observers about Avaya's trajectory is almost as entertaining as this season of South Park.

NOTE -- HE NEVER DENIES OR PROMISE WHAT IS FACT. HE SIMPLY GASLITES THE REPORTS and PERSONALLY ATTACKS INDIVIDUALS AND GROUPS like a junior high child. (again, just like batman's clueless sidekick).

NO, PD. IT IS NOT FAKE NEWS.

Spoke with HR last night & it’s a bit of a mess & there is mild leadership panic because they have had more takers than they planned for or expected which is quite funny….

Avaya does this with union employees all the time.. vtp comes first, then surplus is next if they dont get the numbers they need.

@q2 So, why the troll accusation? (I was already let go, btw, but I put a LOT of time into my work when I was there. Yeah, maybe it's like watching a car crash video, but I'd like to see what happens to the place that fu---d over a lot of us. )

@n5 if you googled it and it there are multiple articles what did you expect someone to say it was false?

@n5 man you dont get it ive never seen anything more specific on here besides whats posted online.. this isnt the spill the beans forum. What you see online is whats happening and of course if it mattered to you, you would have received the documentation from avaya.

@k9 You try googling it? I got multiple hits on what the OP was talking about.

The only reason why Avaya would take this path, is that one way or another, all badged employees are getting dumped.

@fs im pretty sure your trolling and probably the op.. they said they received something yet asked what it meant.. clearly they received nothing and just want something more than what the link that was posted said! No information is really ever shared here.. definitely nothing specific

If @OP is a troll, why have three different sites reported on it?

This is it. Avaya is officially collapsing.
