Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Is the unpaid overtime worth it?

I’m a 29‑year‑old claims analyst with a bachelor’s in health sciences, been at Cigna 18 months. While benefits are solid, the expected 10–15 hr unpaid OT weekly is too much. At first, I powered through, but now burnout hit hard. Are others feeling this strain? It seems nearly expected.

@OP don’t give them a minute extra of your time unless you are compensated in some way. Don’t do it.

When I choose to donate my time, Cigna is near the bottom of the barrel. Timeclock sounds, and I'm a modern-day Fred Flintstone, yabba dabba doo and all. Outta there at the first opportunity.

I'd recommend 40 hour work weeks around here, at least until a lot of things get a lot better.

@fs that is great. i hope your trained backups now get compensated for the extra work too. Or else it is just a vicious cycle

I was in a similar position and it affected my mental health. I had to seek treatment and take a short leave. I had a candid conversation with my manager when I returned, making it clear how much I was going above and beyond and that I needed support to take some of that time and pressure off. Luckily in my case that worked. Now I rarely work overtime hours and can delegate some of my tasks. I also have trained backups now, so I don't have to stress every time I take PTO.

If you feel like this move on your 29. You’ll have 8 more jobs before it’s done. 15 hours of Unpaid OT lol. Degree paying off. Buc-ee’s starts at $20 an hour managers make over 200k and it seems like a great place to work with better benefits and nicer people.
