Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Another reorg, same pointless outcome

How many more layoffs and failed restructures before they admit the real problem isn’t the structure, or us??

@1gk Right on point. We work in a gaslighting culture. Anyone that doesn’t see it is a part of the problem or works in a great department.

@1gk bro I’m an hourly employee and your rant is just proving my point. Let me introduce you to more jargon to quote since you hilariously called for ADMIN like a child calls for their mommy. Maybe try to make this one stick: “professional maturity.”

@ag - I agree wholeheartedly ! It REALLY seemed to start going downhill after they acquired Wellcare and all of its sh---y toxic management ... many of which they kept surprisingly enough considering they should have been in PRISON.

@m2 - why are you here instead of at one of your expensive " management retreats " ?
Why are you here gaslighting people who obviously are scared and trying to vent when its also pretty obvious they don't have the " psychological safety " ( remember those words people like to use ? ) to do it at work or even ask questions ... shame on you. I hope you are nicer and less manipulative to the folks you " people lead"
ADMIN ????

@xt I don’t think this is just the experience of one person. You can click on any health plan from this website and see various leadership experiences. This isn’t a one-off but widespread. Yes, there are tons of people that would love to have your positive experience of leadership. Thank you for sharing your experience.

@qz it’s really amazing this corporate greed has been allowed to go on for as long as it has. I think the jig is up.

@rz not in my area. We have amazing leadership. They care about results and hold people accountable for their performance. It makes all the difference. I hope you get good leadership so you can see it from our POV

@ag What transparency, that is the joke and the root of unrest. No one is held accountable for the sh.t sho.w that is Centene. They just fire people wi--y nilly if they don’t perform the impossible. They need an outside company that can come in and show these people how a first rate company should run. Yes it will cost money, maybe even out of their personal payouts, but it might be an answer. Either that or this company will eventually explode, or a foreign county will buy it out.

Management is miserable. Imagine getting paid well above poverty line to create a culture that results in what we see expressed on this board. People feel hopeless and it’s sad that no one creates a safe place to express at these issues at work.

@qb the culture at Centene is deeply sick. The kind of ranting and raving that gets posted on this board is proof that this place makes people miserable. I have never seen a workforce that is this afraid, angry, stressed, and anxious. It's awful, just awful. Sc--w shareholder value, the company has deep deep problems with how work gets done and the tone that is set by management.

Centene CEO Sarah London pocketed $20.6 million in 2024—$1.4 million in salary and $14.6 million in stock awards. And let’s not pretend the CFO, CDO, CTO, and CIO aren’t making similar amounts. While they cash in, employees are left dealing with unrealistic expectations, limited support, and stagnant pay. This is corporate greed at its peak.

Once the market improves—and I hope it does soon—I’m ready to walk. Until then, like many others, I have a family to support and no choice but to endure their reckless decisions. Enough is enough. It’s time for real change in how this company values its people.

The venting on this board runs much deeper than layoffs. There are so many people working hard that are not a part of “the club” that gets bonuses off of others working. The promotions that some will never get no matter how hard they work. So yea, go offf because so many of us are tired and can’t say anything about it, so we come here to see that we are not alone in this. Stop watching others complain if it doesn’t apply or affect you.

@m2 these "complainers" as you call them, have people counting on them to eat, have a roof over their heads, health insurance, etc etc etc, so no, they cannot just pick up and go. and I don't know what state you live in, but the job market, is not great, many companies , not just this one, laying off thousands of people because of things out side of their control. so if someone wants to blow off some steam, I give them some grace and say go ahead, I hear you, many of us are feeling the same frustration and then just go ahead and give it your best and not focus too much energy on things we have no control over.

@m2 The issue is: The unknown. People are stressed. Their livelihoods are at stake. We have mortgages, bills to pay and kids to feed. And the job market su-ks. This is what happens when you turn lives upside down. People will react negatively. We all know what’s coming.

@m2 and yet here you are complaining about the people complaining! You can choose to stay off this board and not read about anything. People are to get information and yes maybe vent some over frustration. Agreed definitely life too short to be reading comments and judging also

Nobody is forcing anyone to work at Centene. If you hate it so much - get a job elsewhere. I cannot imagine continuing to work for a company I don’t believe in, and posting on anonymous message boards to complain about it while still collecting my paycheck. Grow up, resign, and find somewhere else you’d rather be. Life is too short to be this bitter and jaded. Cripes.

This is typical for corporate America. It’s not you, it’s not me, it’s not leadership. It’s capitalism. Go with the flow or get out. Your choice.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that the current leadership—specifically the CDO, CTO, and CEO—needs to be held accountable. There are serious concerns about transparency and decision-making that appear to be contributing to Centene’s declining stock performance. The direction the company is heading feels unsustainable, and without meaningful change, we risk further erosion of trust and value. It’s critical that we reassess who is steering this organization and whether they are equipped to navigate us forward.. F mo--ns
