Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What a waste!

Now that DF the champ of west coast software talent rehashing old ideas of low talent Michigan auto engineers out, I sincerely hope someone talk some sense into Ford executive thick heads.

Ford hasn’t shipped anything of significance since FNV2 (feel proud of that era). FNV4 would have been essentially delivered this year. Yet after billions wasted what did we get?
Silicon valley snake oil seller left with 200m and the company got a nothing burger.
Their SDV dream is as good as a dead cow in the canal, effectively years behind any competition.

Never seen waste more splendid than this. Unbelievable!!!

That's right. It's good to remind them that they are cheaper hires for a reason. That's not mean or politically incorrect. It's stating a fact that we all know happens. We do the same job. You get paid less....why would that be the case?

...and look what happens. He pops smoke before it crosses the line. Why doesn't he want to be around when it lands? It's only another year...couldn't wait? Of course he could have, it's just either he needs to distance himself from it, or he was forced out in some way. Leaving his buddy Allan to pick up the peices unless he jumps as well.

Or if things are so much better and cheaper, what's wrong with making the rationalization that it'd be better for her to go back? Imperically wouldn't that make sense? Let's keep race out of it because it's not a consideration here. Clearly states how things are better. Yet still here ....why?

@16n Had a female entitled Indian LL6 who continually interpreted everything as discrimination against her. Meanwhile she was continually complaining about how much she was having to pay in the USA for her cleaning service, landscaping service, meal prep service, child care. Back in India she had everything done for her for a few rupees and discarded clothing by the lower castes.

Same woman actively discriminated against other Indians, Pakistanis etc.
Can’t have it both ways. If they want to be treated equally they have to treat everyone equally, not bring their homeland discrimination to the USA.

Top management for FNV4 - Roz H, Matt J, DF - with that lineup FNV4 had no chance. Sometimes I feel FNV4 was made to fail so that DF could claim to be the savior with UEV.

@gp Most of the Indian engineers are from tbe south and so they have their own groups. Similar to chinese or koreans, so it’s nothing new. Problem is when they start playing games based on this grouping and Ford has to be one of the worst. I have only seen worse behavior at suppliers since they tend to hire cheaper labour.

I'll bet DF will still be in all of Ford executive leadership's contact list should they need help to continue DF's strategy he spearheaded. The Ford+ Transformation is a huge undertaking and DF was and is key to its success.

@fk It’s odd as the Indian managers at Ford are racist AF. They even discriminate against other Indians who aren’t “their equals” back in India. We interviewed several candidates and it was clear that one Indian guy was the best by far. The Indian LL6 refused to hire him as he was from the wrong part of India. Who knew if you grew up in Northern India you weren’t as good as someone who grew up in Southern India? And good grief how they treat Indian women coworkers. And they get a pass by HR by claiming a black or white employee is just discriminating against them. Good Grief when is the last time you heard of someone who was born in Michigan discriminate against someone born in Florida as an example?

@bf The majority of our profits come from folks who buy our trucks and don't really use them for truck things. Trucks are, largely speaking, a social statement. A statement of wealth and values. Those are the folks that we design for.

We also have too many nepotistic Indians in positions of management that hire more indians no matter the skill level because they can control them better. Scam culture abound and no one wants to go back to the $hit hole from whence they came so they have to do what they can to stay.

Yeah...uh that's fine and all. Understand the points you've made. Now let's get to the point that matters - Lincoln has been a solid "middle player" for a long time if not below par. Maybe customers never thought it was possible, but that doesn't matter because they don't care?

Nobody want the slop on their vehicle. Get it off there. People don't want over complicated BS.

If Ford actually listened to actual customers they could easily have a smash hit.
For example, let’s talk about trucks. The people who actually need a truck for daily life (ranchers, farmers, oil field workers, construction workers) have been complaining for years now about not being able to buy a simple truck that can stand up to the daily abuse their lifestyle metes out. They don’t care about scratches and scuffs on their vehicle. They don’t care about fancy electronics. Give them a f series from 1950s-1990s and they would be happy. Guaranteed an instant hit if Ford brought a fit for purpose truck to market, not another enshittified truck that is really a car with a sheet metal body of a truck.

Ford engineers are are bunch of observers. They have no talent to design anything. They take notes and put together presentations.

Engineering are being done by outside agencies. So Ford engineers hire outside engineers to to their work. They do presentations and take the credits.

This is why Ford cannot cut costs. They should hire a bunch of high schoolers, pay them $15 per hour to take notes and do PowerPoint presentations.
