Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Inflation in the U.S. has increased by approximately 26% between 2019 and early 2025

Has anyone had a pay raise that kept up with inflation?
You were making $100K in 2019 — now you earn $126K.

0% raise this year. 2.3% last year. Happy for BM though, he just got a 17% raise! Times are tough, but I'm happy he doesn't have to worry about inflation!

@qd Consider adding some shoe-shining skills. You're clearly a strong candidate to replace BTM, but you might be too young to realize that tech skills alone can't bridge every gap. KA and repeat—maybe that's what you meant.

  • 100% since 2018. Success in the modern professional landscape is rarely linear. Since 2019, I have doubled my impact by following a simple but rigorous framework: identify a gap, bridge it with new skills, and move into the space where those skills are needed most. This 'rinse and repeat' philosophy focuses on solving the problems others haven't yet seen. Ultimately, meaningful growth, beyond the standard 0% or 2%—is reserved for those who prioritize continuous evolution over professional complacency.

@fj+1kh70c5tq - BTM got $41MM for 2025, so I'd say "yea, he has kept up with inflation."

Not so much the rest of us poor sods.

@k1 any random B4 or high ranking B5s can easily make 150 at the bank. Damn you all aim low.

@b7
You were an apple, and now you're an apple tree. You're worth much more now because you've transformed. Good for you!
We're not talking about the raise you got—that’s not the point here. What we want to know is: what is that same apple tree worth today, given that the apple itself is now 26% more than it was six years ago?

Correct me if I am wrong (give or take a million), but BM's compensation for 2019 to 2025 was $24.5 million to $35 million respectfully. Did BM's salary keep up with inflation? In comparison, my compensation is only 5 digits or 0.0016 percent of what BM gets. Even though I am not satisfied, at least I am not shining anybody's shoes. And never will!!!

Yes. In 18 I was making around 80, now making 150ish. Got certs. Learned some stuff. Found a position. Got the position. I saw what they wanted and got that skill. It wasn't easy. Hard as heck. Su-ks.

Go ahead and click that down arrow, is what it is.

No. I cannot survive on the stagnant wages combined with ever increased medical insurance. I’ve dropped every other type of coverage that I can (life insurance). I don’t go grocery shopping anymore. I go to the food bank.

Made me check myself - 14.2% so nope and that included a small promotion. 2019 bonus was $8k, this year $4k and exceeds rated every year.
