Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Where is the breaking point?

Phil going to die with his company in the gutter.

Shareholders underwater.

Employees underwater.

ESPP hasn’t been relevant for 5 years given sharp decline.

Annual bonus was and will continue to be below 100%.

How embarassing.

Let’s launch an innovative product for Christmas, called “co*k in a sock”.

It will be our best seller.

Something tells me that the 2018 s-xual misconduct revelations will not be the tipping point. The misconduct hasn’t stopped - HR reports to Legal. So do
you actually believe they are looking out for employees? Their job is to manipulate the narrative and protect the company’s image. We all know that there is a lot more s- - xual misconduct to be exposed. It’s a corrupt group and employees aren’t protected anymore.

I sold all my stock.

In all seriousness, you should too. 2026 will be worse than 2025.

There is no breaking point

It seems inevitable that another major scandal akin to the child labor issues or the 2018 s-xual misconduct revelations will be the tipping point draggind BoD in this ongoing crisi and force action.

Only then will the powers that be begin discussing reforms and accountability.

This situation arises not from a single bad decision or strategy, but from a pervasive leadership culture lacking any real oversight. Without accountability mechanisms problems escalate unchecked, often requiring public backlash to spur change. Proactive governance reforms are needed, though they cynically only follow a reputational blowup.

umm, rising share prices are exactly how the nonproducing 'rich' make fiat money
what do you think stock buybacks do
what do you think mass layoffs do
executives are paid more with stocks than regular workers

Ummm…. rich people don’t care about things the “not-rich” do.

The stock price is irrelevant to them as is the companies success or failure despite what they may say publicly.
