Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Can’t wait to watch this major fail unfold

Leadership has no real understanding of what AI can and can’t do, or where it fits within the processes. They’re about to learn the hard way. If I get cut along the way, I’ll consider it a favor.

@fc My job can’t be automated as there are so many variables on why a Back Up fails.

AI is great. But I'm not going to tell my manager I used AI to write a script to automate my own job. TBF when I do ask AI, it takes an age to get it to actually give me a working script. We go round in circles of it confidently saying this is it. And me saying no, it still errors. I still have to edit and steer. But we get there in the end.

When DXC says goodbye - because we'll just get AI to write a script to automate your job. Have they got a clue what it is that script should even do - I really doubt it.

And that's why you need to retain competent engineers, and reward loyalty. AI can help us build better solutions, faster, and with a quality customers are going to come to expect. You need engaged staff, if nobody cares. AI will knock out a bunch of scripts - tell you this is the solution. I can assure you it's not. It might be 90% there. But software only works when it's 100.0% right. That last 10% still takes quite a while to finish.

Drumghoul said in a recent town hall he gave that he doesn't trust AI

That's quite amusing, given its one toxic, biased, hallucinator calling out another ...

@a4 The problem is, the good leaders with an understanding of the DXC target market would be unlikely to want to join DXC. Hence end up with the dross, end of career executives !

In my opinion a majority of people feel the same way. DXC is a blueprint for what not to do. What do you expect when you hire leaders with zero professional services background. What do you expect with a CEO who has no clue what he is doing but hires his buddies who again have no clue what they are doing. What do you expect when you hire guys like Art who can single handily ki-l what little progress the company was making towards a better culture. I have watched good leaders walk out the door lately and we are left with what… it’s truly a sad state of affairs and painful to watch the stuck head to single digits soon. In my opinion this has gone from a company with a chance to the worst services company around.
