Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

True lay off

Not including a handful of IT, the recent leadership rearrangement or Cigna folks that didn’t met HCSC requirements for rehire, has anyone actually been laid off?

@f9 no, only boil out clean with water. No soap.

@10n and you know this how? Is this 1 week that HCSC gives up or Cigna people?

@ks there is work to go around that’s being pushed off until 2026 and beyond. If it’s not mandate work, it will be backlogged. I think they’re protecting their bottom line since they’ve had some setbacks in the core states. But honestly the more folks around to get the work done (who know how to do it) the better environment it is for everyone (leadership does not care).

Do you think HCSC’s staff can manage the volume of work that Cigna had? I agree there may be layoffs but what’s a realistic?

@jt What is HCSC's severance policy, i.e., how many weeks pay per year of service? Thanks.

@f9 As long as it isn't lye based, most modern dish soap is safe for cast iron.

The one year guaranteed two things. One is no less compensation than we would have had with Cigna this year. Which likely means a pay cut next year.

Two is that, if our job is eliminated, we would receive the same severance as we would with Cigna. Which likely means if Cigna peeps are going to be JE'd, it will be after March of next year when it will be cheaper.

@a1 it’s not one year guaranteed employment: it’s just one year guaranteed the same compensation (if still employed). HCSC pays a lot less overall.

@bk my same thoughts. and certainly no room for advancing unless we move to one of those states.

@a6 it’s been hard not to be skeptical of why they can only hire in the 6 states as of yet or the mileage away- many don’t or won’t fit that for future or any current job opportunities - makes one feel esp for former Cigna EEs that they are waiting for the other shoe to drop.

@a1 that might be true for Cigna employees, but what about HCSC employees. Also, I wonder if there are loop holes in the 1 year. What about Cigna people that don’t live in an HCSC state or within the mileage to any office. Are those loop holes to letting us go?

@OP Supposed to be 1 year guaranteed employment so wouldn’t see anyone laid off.
