Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Is it this bad everywhere?

People often say to me you know it's the same everywhere. I'm sure everywhere has it's issues - but not quite like DXC. You don't find a constant rant from Cap Gemeni or ATOS feeds on this site. DXC staff from the bottom through to some senior managers have become pretty hostile to DXC's way of operating. The company isn't getting the best it can out of it's staff, which means the clients are being short changed.

After nearly 20 years in HP/HPE/DXC, I left in 2023. This company is stuck in the whirlpool of their own doing. Very little investment in any R&D and zero thought leadership. The desire to adapt and do new things, develop new offerings, is just not there.

Moving on to a new company, while the work may not be the greatest, the pay is definitely far better. Moved with a nearly 50% hike and after 2 years, the pay and bonuses are nearly 75% more than what I was getting when I left. There was a snowball's chance in he-l that I would have gotten even a tenth of that increase if I had stayed.

I left last year. I earned 40%more, got bonus and pay rise. Working with a mostly motivated and genuinely engaged team. In DxC I saw management behaviours fit for the dustbin. Especially the U.K “leaders” the ex Woolworths DH for starters.

I left DXC four years ago and it was the best decision I have ever made. I feel healthier, have a better work life balance, my blood pressure is normal, and I am genuinely happy. I was with DXC maybe 7 years

DXC didn't exist prior to April 2017 so you're not making any sense here. Aside from that, good on you that you've made the change for the better. God speed.

I left DXC four years ago and it was the best decision I have ever made. I feel healthier, have a better work life balance, my blood pressure is normal, and I am genuinely happy. I was with DXC maybe 7 years and it does not sound like it changed much since I left. And yes I have gotten raises and bonuses every year since I left but I went to work for a firm not a publicly traded company which also helped. There is hope.

Right now. I'd take less money to do more. As long as it comes without all the DXC cr-p that surrounds and blocks everything we do. A simple thank you. Good job.Costs nothing, but is something I've not had out of DXC in as far back as I can remember now.

Until you see an email that they have cleared out 2 layers of middle management this company is not going to change.

Just keep filling out them useless forms in the meantime to keep the managers in jobs and for them to block everything you do.

In the meantime more ibm recruits at the top.

No it is not, I know several people who have left and initially were simply on better salaries for the same work^ vs DXC, but that was just the start. The have had multiple salary jumps as their work was valued plus promotions, yearly bonuses, so they are in fact in a far better position than they were in DXC.

^I even had one tell me they work far less compared to DXC and that was seen as perfectly normal in that company.

Agreed the grass is not always greener but I doubt there are many companies that can be the same or worse than DXC!

ex DXC here (5 years). Based in EU. Corporate. Formerly single contributor reporting to VP in DXC with top performance reviews every year. Received an award for parformance etc. Moved to a different industry with similar responsibilities, with 20% base salary increase. People are motivated, relaxed, warm and happy. Bonuses twice a year and salary raises for several years in a row across the board. Company is on incline revenue-wise for more than 5 years. Pretty much unrestricted travel, to attend or drive workshops and meet team members. So no, it is not like DXC everywhere. What I value most is the atmosphere where I work. I actually enjoy work again :)

@rx+1jsc410kj By forms you mean cr-ppy word documents, with no consistency. A rant about how it needs to be filled in. No instructions where to send it. A fight to get anyone to approve. Aka forward on email with the phrase I approve this. Followed by a long wait, and then having it returned, usually saying this is the wrong form. We updated it last month. Please use the correct form and resubmit. That or you never hear again!!! If you get anywhere they maliciously comply and do exactly what's on the form which usually doesn't work. It's very easy to do nothing on the back of endless forms.

@rx+1jsc410kj I was involved in a 19 week project to do a design to build some inconsequential software. When I scoffed and said but it's won't take that long to build I was told it's for all the paperwork. The client wants paperwork. Needless to say 5 weeks in nobody can agree. The project never happened. At least not with DXC. But DXC seems happy billing for fluff, and never delivering more than a stock project plan.

The whole company consists of teams, functioning within silos. It has been like that ever since I joined this place. Want something done? Fill out this form. Implement something that customer really wants? Fill out this form, and host 15 meetings explaining to 30 different teams why the customer wants it. Do not forget that all 15 teams want to bill that time to that one customer, because growth, right? By the time you got all the approvals and filled out all the forms, the customer's budget has run out. Game over.

That's DXC.

Can you share the details of the new sales plan? What makes it so bad?

I've never been in a company like this, for the global sales team, meetings were held and questions have been raised on the terrible new Sales Plans, but no response other than - Sign the Sales Plan. Where is the leadership? Its clear that the current DXC management do not care about staff, no wonder there has been and will continue to be loss of revenue. Time to move on, its been three hard years for me!

@kw+1jsc410kj Clearly the issue is that DXC is so damaging on people's mental health that even years later they can't stop ranting about the bloody place. You can't just move on and forget it. You realise just how stuffed and stupid you were by staying so long.

@f9+1jsc410kj This has got to be the most active board. Though surprisingly the blind board is not as active I wonder if it's because they make you verify email. A lot of non dxc people here.

Do other companies have problems? Are their staff unhappy too?

Well yes of course but nobody has planted and shared the idea of using this place as the vent for frustration and anger.

You'd probably not find many other companies listed on this site with an as active section as dxc.

Either that or everyone else is just perfect and their internal communications channels cope with feedback and problems in a positive way...

Its like no other company. No company withhold raises for more than 3 years. Its shocking the way they are treating people who worked hard through difficult times like Covid and high inflation.

There is no company like it, the managers are so fcked up.

What do you expect, the company does give rises fir 10 to 15 years, some managers siphon off any raises to give instead of pay adjustments to thiers friends.

The execs at the top take millions for shrinking the company.

Inflation has savaged peoples pay and the bills just keep on going up every year.

The company has profits to pay people but chooses it for Execs and bent managers friends.

What do you expect from the workers who never ever get a raise?
