Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

2008 is the year the older members gave up on newer.

2008 the healthcare went away for new hires

2012 the pension went away

2016 techs started to become anti union and cross the line

2019 extended this cr-p

2022 techs become completely anti union. They threaten to cross the line if there’s a strike and give up on the rest of the union.

2026 why should I care if there no union in the union.

The union wants nothing but head count. They are ki-ling the overtime with over hiring. I think maybe we can do a little better my first instinct is to not take the first deal offered. But the political landscape we wont have help with the NLRB.

Can you please post your salary and your benefits for us?

Everyone wants more - but let's be honest, you guys are doing great for what you do and the fact that many if not most of you are not even college grads. So it's no wonder that the union and going on strike is not a big priority for most of you.

@f3 you're a worm
You can't even own to the part you played
You represent the worst part of being forced to deal with the union
After a meeting no amount of scrubbing can make me feel clean from having to interact with you l-wlifes.

Make no mistake it wasn’t the senior guys that failed us it was our union.
Our union doesn’t strike because they would have to dip into that strike fund. Who gets that if we don’t use it?
And what did we get with this new contract really?
We didn’t even get a true cost of living raise.
Dock worker got an 80% raise
Auto workers 50% raise
UPS Drivers 170000 a year, on top of that if they file a grievance and win they get paid
USPS union members also get paid if they file a
Grievance and win
What happens with us if we file a Grievance and win “ sorry we won’t do it again until next time that we do it”
Our union has no teeth.
If you are one of the few that actually works at Verizon you’re better off heading down south and getting a new job.

older members took what was given to them by the previous generation and said F the new guys. you fought for nothing and gave it all away at the first sign of threat to what you had. i wish there was a way we could take your pension

We pay our dues and when the contract is due, another benefit gets eliminated. Why do union leaders make so much money and NOT produce for the members?

How boomer of them to pull up the ladder behind them. Now that you mention it, why were all human sacrifices, across ALL cultures, young?

@aq and you accept this? All you are saying is that you, and all like you, are the weak minded servant class the union and the company count on.

We need an independent vote count. Our dues could pay for this.

@an. Have you ever seen the ratification votes? I’ve been here for 20 years and never seen them. If you have, please let us all know how we can see them. It’s always a secret and we all just assume that the union tells us the truth.

Obviously a poor industry getting poorer. How much longer can anyone hang on? All moving overseas and unions are holding zero cards in today's modern age. Was good before landlines didn't make sense anymore. Simply as this folks.

@am it wasn't just the company. The union and it's members allowed it. Union leadership accepted the terms and the members ratified it. They are just as responsible. At least the company is honest about its motivation.

@OP. Yep, the company divided and conquered. Now the union has their hands full at the table for letting this go on.

Per diem rates are going to raise from 34 to 45 per day. Now I can get a soda for lunch and dinner. I really want that soda so I’m leaning toward a YES. 🙄
