Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

It's impossible to keep cutting indefinitely

It feels like almost everyone who actually does their job has already been let go. Meanwhile, the ones who barely do anything seem untouchable. It’s frustrating and makes you wonder who’s even left to cut next.

@OP, not just cutting, also hiring as per a T-Mobile statement in a recent press release. Twenty-five years of great management of the employee base. TMUS, next stop $300, dividend to $1, then a 3:1 stock split!

“As we continue to hire for hundreds of new roles, we have eliminated a small portion of positions to realign the focus and structure of some parts of the team…”[1]

@fc Legacy Magenta folks in Network Engineering used to be told things like:

-"PTO means pretend time off"
-"You're on salary which means you work 24x7"
-"Why didn't you take your computer with you on vacation to do work?"

@f3, I've seen this poll and I've seen the new role descriptions.

The new minimum role requirements state that candidates must be willing to work as many hours as necessary to do what they've been told to do without questions or push back. New candidates should excel at keeping their thoughts and suggestions to themselves. Ideal candidates should be highly susceptible to threat of losing their work-based visa .

It's good to see we've returned to merit based hiring.

In another poll, it was determined 100% who were part of the layoff, did NOT meet the minimum qualifications for any new roles. Remember, we reverted back to merit based hiring based on performance, intelligence, credentials, and education.

@ea

Likely 10% of IT FTEs were let go
We know that of those let go, 121 of those employees were in King County, Washington.

@ep
There is a poll on another site indicating that about 60% of those laid off were born in the U.S.A.

@OP
They actually laid off people who actually did do work. I was one of them. They didn't layoff the individual who was on Short Term Disability frequently. Nor did the layoff VISA holders. The ones I know about most had been US citizens.

@OP take an Elon Musk clue , maybe those people were doing work that didn't need to be done in the first place, they just padded the headcount for someone to manage.
