Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Milk them as long as you can.

This company is evil, and deserves none of your effort. Humana as an organization is replete with claim denials, illegal kickbacks, and fraud. No matter how much they posture, they ultimately don't care about members.

Members aren't the real customer at Humana- the real customer is the US Government, and Humana's ONLY goal is to keep them happy. Why? The Government pays Humana's bills. This company is a complete corporate welfare state, dependent on snagging payouts from CMS, which is why they freak out over things like STARs ratings. Make no mistake- Humana might be paying you, but YOU are paying for Humana's existence in the form of your tax dollars.

If you're ever unfortunate enough be under Humana's care umbrella, then bless your little heart. My Grandpa is a member, and was recently complaining to me about getting a critical eye surgery denied. Love to hear that (sarcasm)!

Humana can't even reasonably claim that they create American jobs, especially not with these inevitable RIFs. What's more is, a huge swath of this company is populated by H1Bs, offshore contractors, and others from India- especially in IT. It seems like their numbers are ever-increasing, too. If you ever find yourself asking why there's so much red tape in IT, just know it's because these sub-par developers have been pushing bad changes for years, to the point that any change is now seen as a major risk.

Just quiet quit and start looking elsewhere. Collect the checks and give them as little as possible in return. This place isn't worth your effort or stress.

@es Good luck getting a hold of that guy. Even his emails to the company are sent from another person "on his behalf". Does he even actually work?

@f8 yes, reported it to my manager. Advised that is was out of our scope to report it. So much for our ethics and compliance training

@fs agree!!! Some of the micromanagers are so bad. They are up the employees butts that actually are doing the work, yet don't know how to do the work themselves. It's ridiculous when you actually know more than the management does. They keep promoting these uneducated leaders that do not have a clue.

They have never cared about the members. That was what HSO did best until it was also sc--wed up. The corporation without a heart. Employees don't matter. They are easily replaced. It's a revolving door.

@OP quiet quitting is hard when you have a director that micromanages and you have to report your activity three times a day. I am so done with Humana.

@f1 did you report this? DOJ likely isn't stalking this page.

Wait until DOJ gets wind that Humana is getting per member per month premiums for members with active medicaid status in more than one state. Reports exists and Humana doesn't do a thing to report or follow up on these members. It's all about the money

I don't need to ask, because he outsourced for the same reasons anyone does: the bottom line. Saving money. He CERTAINLY didn't outsource because he wanted quality work, I can tell you that much!

Good info! However, just a reminder- both fraud and illegal kickbacks have been identified within the past year, to the point of DOJ involvement.

If you can, with hand on heart identify fraud and illegal kickbacks you have a case to claim whistle blower status.
Claiming whistleblower status for Medicare fraud involves a process under the False Claims Act (FCA) to report fraudulent activities against government healthcare programs

  1. Gather evidence

Collect any information you have about the suspected Medicare fraud, such as billing records, patient charts, or other documentation.
Documentation of specific instances of fraud, including dates, names, and details of the fraudulent claims, will be helpful

  2. Consult a whistleblower attorney

It is strongly recommended to consult with a lawyer experienced in False Claims Act and qui tam cases.
An attorney can help you evaluate your case, understand the legal implications, and navigate the complexities of the process.
They can also help you understand and protect your rights as a whistleblower under the FCA.

  3. File a qui tam lawsuit

Your attorney will file a qui tam lawsuit on your behalf, acting as a "relator" (whistleblower) and representing the government's interests.
This lawsuit is initially filed under seal, meaning the details are kept confidential, including your identity, allowing the government time to investigate.
The lawsuit must be filed within the statute of limitations, generally six years of the fraudulent act or three years after the government knew or should have known about the fraud, with a maximum of 10 years.

If your claim is upheld you can be paid a reward of between 15% - 30% of the value of the claim.

The FCA protects whistleblowers from retaliation by their employers for reporting fraud. If your employer takes retaliatory actions (e.g., termination, harassment), you may have legal recourse and be entitled to remedies like reinstatement and back pay

Now if you don't know these things based on a first hand basis, best you shut up and do your work before you do get fired.
