Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

Manager impact

The latest circling HQ is anyone with a “manager” title without direct reports is going to be demoted to specialist / coordinator / analysts whatever the respective position would be. Hearing minor impacts to base pay but would impact bonus % and stocks.

@1sq I'm so sorry to hear you were laid off. Are you comfortable sharing which org and former region you worked in? Good luck in your job search.

@re In a meeting back in February of 2019, management announced a company restructuring and tenured employees such as myself would be offered a quote “dignified exit.” After all that has happened the last seven years, I understand now why it was called that. We were the lucky ones. Perhaps it’s time to stop taking Comcast’s sh-t and “engineer” your own exit before it gets worse. It’s a dying company. Get out before you’re cut loose without options.

I was promoted a manager role without direct reports right before getting laid off in West Div. Guess it's kind of nice to know that wasn't going to last long anyway.

Many manager level employees received an asset collection email yesterday citing termination as the reason for asset retrieval. IT claims this was an accident but could it be a sign of things to come and perhaps the messages went out too early? Do we just trust the response from IT or start to look elsewhere?

"You or a member of your team may have received a TechSpot request (RITM) indicating the need to return IT equipment. Please ignore and delete this request – it was sent in error, and no action is required. You do not need to return any equipment.

If you viewed the request details, you may have seen a “Request Type” of “Termination.” We understand how concerning that may have been, and we deeply apologize for the confusion.

We are actively investigating what caused this issue to ensure it does not happen again."

While we're at it, what's the difference between an Executive Director, a Senior Director and a Director? And sometimes you see the word "National" in front of their titles. You can see it all on their LinkedIn profiles with impressive "achievements," but it seems like a whole lotta nothing!

Oh no! What will become of all the directors that have 0 direct reports? Burn it down.
