Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

As long as Scharf is in charge, layoffs will not stop

I think it's time we face reality. We need to accept that every new day can and most likely will bring layoffs as long as Scharf is still CEO. If that kind of pressure is not something you can take, it's time to start looking for a new job. That's what I've been doing for the past few weeks.

They don't have to pay over min wage either, and yet the market dictates that they do. Benefits are just another kind of comp. If you don't want a severance, leave. I'll take mine.

Hate to be the bearer of reality. But Severance is not an earned benefit. Companies do not have to pay severance. They do it to ease their guilt, reputation or try to look humans

Good points. At 20 years, you should wait it out. Unless you're in your 40s, then I'd look. Under 5 years los, it's a no-brainer. Find a place while you're employed so you can be choosy.

Yeah, if you’ve been here 20+ years there’s very little incentive to leave voluntarily unless you can find a job that’s a big jump in pay.

If you’ve been here <5 though, I’m not sure I’d hold out for severance if you think you’re going to get laid off. With the way things are right now there’s a decent chance it’ll take longer than 3-4 months to find something new without settling for whatever offer happens to come first, at which point you could run out of severance before you’ve got a new income source.

Charlie, your posts are getting more laughable. If not you, then one of your find-another-job-so-we-don't-have-to-pay-you-severance-and-unemployment shills.

You're so transparent, it's embarrassing.

To the person complaining about those holding out for severance.

Severance is a benefit that long-time employees have earned. I don't fault anyone who has significant severance built up to wait out CS. Many long-time employees will get 50 weeks plus the 60 day non-working notice. If you are making $100K you end up leaving $120K on the floor if you voluntarily leave.

Agree the WF layoffs will not stop, unfortunately.

Respect your and others decision to find a new job and also those who opt to wait it out for severance. Everyone needs to do what’s right for their own situation!

Also hoping those who don’t want to get displaced are able to keep their jobs.

We can do both at the same time, Shart. You're drunk, go back to bed.

"it's time to start looking for a new job"

Finally, someone facing reality of the layoff scenario and their unhappiness with the employer, being sensible and proactive with their career!

As opposed to:

"if he wants me gone he's going to have to pay"

someone facing the same reality, being irrational and hanging around just to make the CEO pay severance money!

Sensible vs. Lameness LOL this site continues to provide 30 minutes of laughter everyday!

He only has a year or two left, if he wants me gone he's going to have to pay. FCS and FHY for destroying this company. They can do it, but they don't get to do it for free. I'll take my year of severance.
