Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

RTO - Get over it

Move on good teammates. This is reality. I don’t like it but it’s my only option now. Let’s focus on making good business decisions so the bank does well. We’re all in this together. Truist is poised to be the best regional bank. Leadership may need some coaching but the frontline teammates are solid. Let’s focus on the clients, they picked PURPLE for a reason - let’s commit to serving them.

@j3 This is the way. Employee satisfaction is the #1 key strategy for a successful, profitable business. Without it, there is no business.

Sure, some will be effectively brainwashed by cult leadership, but not to the degree the consultants would have them believe when they bought into this psychobullshit strategy. And because it was adopted by the industry collectively, there is no place for leadership to go where they can be successful for as long as it's attempted to be enforced.

You’re the one who dressed up for the interview. You’re the one who said you wanted this opportunity. You accepted the offer, and you keep showing up every day. So maybe—just maybe—“they” aren’t the problem. At some point, you have to stop pointing fingers and start owning the choices that put you here. If you don’t like where you are, change it. But pretending this is someone else’s fault isn’t going to fix anything.

@j3 This is almost literally biting the hand that feeds you. Maybe an alternative approach is to rise above the mediocrity you apparently want to create, and avoid being laid off? Maybe create some value? Maybe consider that you’re pushing against a tsunami and better to get to higher ground? Just one opinion among many.

@j3 ummm last I read Audit is not the one that makes the targets, but you keep telling people what they should do because you obviously have it all together.

@cm I think I found Jenny's alt account.

Don't worry Jenny, the last 5 Directors in your spot lasted 6 months or less. We're all counting the days.

Employees need to resist where it hurts the executives.

Billy boy wants to gobble up other banks, but the Feds won't let him if they miss the targets the auditors have set. Think about what a merger means for us...More work, paniced deadlines, and then once it's done, layoffs.

Make them miss their audit targets. Drag your feet, take time to chat in the break room, only work your 40, if you feel off after being exposed to everyone's kid's secondhand germs, stay home. Don't work from home, you're sick.

Make an effort to take every sick day, why let them expire unused?

@ex With that charming vocabulary, you’re exactly where you need to be—stuck in a dead-end job, complaining about how unfair life is. But hey, keep it up. I’m sure success is right around the corner

Been following this forum for a few years now. It’s become a sad microcosm of society. Gimme gimme gimme and if you don’t comply I’m going to ….. whatever, dude. To think this company hinges on whether you “disengage” represents a narcissism not often found outside of third grade playgrounds. Actively displaying behavior that will eventually get you fired is truly cutting off your nose to spite your face. Why not just resign and take your misery somewhere else? You want to lead a movement? Go ahead and lead it to another job. Oh wait, I forgot: you need the paycheck.

@cm

So just slap on a smile and sing a rousing chorus of zip-a-dee-doo-dah, no matter what sh---y initiative gets shoved on us from above?

Nah. But you go right ahead. Maybe if you are skilled enough, all the woodland creatures will circle around you for the finale!

The bank is absolute trash. Doesn't matter where you sit to work when the company has no clear identity. Profitable lines of business have been shut down while others remain major drag on profits but still hang around.

@aq - Absolutely. I fully intend to adopt a deliberately disagreeable demeanor and embrace a sharp, confrontational edge. I couldn’t agree more!

Why all the hate to the OP??

You chose to be here. Why intentionally choose to be miserable?

This place is packed with grown adults acting like toddlers—no sippy cup, no nap time, and suddenly it’s a meltdown. If you don’t like the mandate, there’s a simple solution: leave. Last I checked, this isn’t prison and nobody has chains on their ankles.

Some of you live to complain, searching for people to join you in your misery. It’s sad, really. I hope you eventually find peace—preferably somewhere else.

Nope. As long as I'm forced in, there will be no shoulder-shrugging and moving past it. I'm heavily invested in active disengagement, malingering, decreasing quality and quantity of work, and just being unpleasant to encounter.

That's what comes with the in-office package and no substitutions or deletions are allowed. The remote-work package has none of these but Truist opted against that.

Oh well, paychecks arrive just the same and the continuing success of the organization is of little concern to me.
