Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Head hunters

Laid off last year. Now I'm getting calls from head hunters for the position I was laid off from through contract agencies. 40 hrs a week no OT at 42 an hr. I even asked, for Centene???? Yep.

If you are looking to hire on as a contract I recommend Amergis or Eight Eleven Group. They are currently recruiting. Total Med is currently recruiting for Molina.

So why not hire consultants to be PL if 50k is too much to get work done? A salary of 150k to delegate, attend meetings, travel, vacation time, and benefits x 3 (as you say). What’s more important delegating work or actually doing the work?

I recall attending a meeting with HR Vice Presidents, during which they mentioned that a position with a $50,000 salary actually costs the company around $150,000 when factoring in vacation time, sick leave, benefits, and other expenses. It makes business sense to hire contractors—they can also get rid of us without paying us severance.

Of course, they lay off people and then hire contractors for the same position because they can pay less for everything—less wages, and they don't have to offer benefits either. Benefits are strictly provided through the contractor agency if they offer them at all, and most don't. You didn't think that they laid off people because they don't need the work done that these people performed in those roles, did you? They laid them off because it is a greedy company that also makes bad decisions, resulting in them losing contractors and being sued.
