Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Manager Review Needed

Hey consultants, leadership, Blackrock, ‘powers that be’….. as you’re chipping away at the company, I suggest you take a close review of all managers, esp. those in the same cushy roles going on 15-20+ years … then look at the turnover rates below them … People don’t leave companies, they leave bad managers. Bad management is to blame for lackluster performance… valued and appreciated employees under positive management will always strive for excellence in their respective roles. We’ve been losing too many great employees to terrible managers. Even more are stuck idling away with no desire to outperform while reporting to a toxic boss. You’re welcome.

Managers who don’t listen will eventually be surrounded by people who have nothing to say.

JT has been a phenomenal leader for many years. Tell me you’re young and inexperienced without telling me you’re young and inexperienced.

Guys, you can’t complain about wet dishrag incompetent management and then complain when one is direct and calls a spade a spade. Having worked with JT and been cross with him a few times I can say he is a good leader.

DF gives his people a lot of freedom. Would you rather bringing back RB or GC.

@wcj+1vfKejHY don’t know of anyone JT is related to but having experienced his wrath, can say never know what time of the month it is for him. My favorite is the ops manager and his wife (who was given a made up role) who leave to pick the kid up at 2:30 together. Not to mention the multiple husband/wives and sister in law relationships in leadership and advisor roles. Mind blowing.

That lowest turnover rate might be because we have a high percentage of employees who are unemployable anywhere else

But Chevron has among the lowest turnover rates in the industry...

@esb+1vfKejHY How often do we actually see managers held accountable? It’s easy to dismiss it as just the staff complaining, but can’t you see it for yourself? If the whole business is calling out nepotism, there’s probably something to it.

JT from Houma in Covington office has run off so many talented Engineers and people with his abusive attitude that someone MUST be protecting him. This Louisiana nepotism borders on the criminal.

The board has been blowing up for years about this in HR. Thanks for joining us.

Get ready for return to work 5 days a week, to have favorites manage moved with no posting, and 30% layoffs in late summer. Dance puppets, DANCE.

OK, so the prevalent mindset all over this board is only managers and higher ups suffer from being inferior in whatever way, and everyone else is just perfect. That sure seems like the nature of all the comments. I am not a manager, never have been and never will (nor want to be) but that's just a pathetic and absurd attitude, not to mention false and will get you nowhere in your career. But sure, run with that if it makes you feel better.

Very true, all cuts, every reorg, start and end at lower - mid tier levels i.e. folks actually putting in the work. Try Offshoring management jobs this time around.

Need to look at manager of engineering management his preference for contract freinds rather than well qualified company personel. Only looks after what's best for him not the company

ABU SCM's LT and middle management drove out new grads, blocked the careers of talented people, and promoted friends over qualified staff. This toxic culture enables bullies, leaves real talent stuck, and somehow lets unqualified leaders play the victim as they angle for better roles. Accountability?...nah let's just cut the workers and expect the unqualified managers to come up to a solution of a problem they continue to create.
