I am afraid of not getting laid off :)
I am now part of the Bangalore reporting structure. It su-ks. They only excel at mindless process and deference to hierarchy.
Cheap doesn't matter when useful output is zero
@cm yup now Jeetu is opening more huge offices in Mumbai and Pune, nearly all the work of Cisco security is heading to India soon.
“Change is the ONLY constant”, says C Patel, CTO ENEA, VP Supremo. Embrace change s_ckers.
Cisco is where technical careers die. It is the place where engineers become admin people and fix TAC and licensing process issues.
I stayed there years too long, comfortable in my position and not wanting to lose my compensation. Quarter after quarter I saw layoffs and initially was worried. After awhile, there’s no point stressing out I when it happens it happens. When I did eventually get impacted, it was still a surprise but now months later, I wish I’d left long before on my own
Afraid? It is highly depending on each individual's financial situation and how confident you can get your next equivalent job. Nevertheless, being laid-off is never a good feeling.
Drop 10k headcount = stock >100
I make sure I fa-t whenever I walk by executives offices.
Hoping it happens sooner than later.
Cisco has people caught in a catch-22....both staying and leaving are bad outcomes
But in the long run, staying is worse, you end up locked in to a go-nowhere job in a perennially underperforming org, your skills atrophy...and then your job goes to Bangalore anyway and you are thrust in to the job market with a multiyear stint at a dinosaur that did you more harm than good
Even worse, Cisco actively encourages high-performers to step away from IC work at exactly the same time that middle-management is being purged from legitimately high-performing companies
Pick me! Pick me!
There are too many useless Directors and above who contribute nothing and solely there to harassing employees. ELT will realize one day that with AI, there is no need for multiple layers of managers su-king up the Cisco profits.
Like AWS, IBM, Meta, ASML and many tech companies, middle managers are in serious trouble.
Yes looking for a new job depletes my internal batteries down to zero. I'd rather avoid that.
Many good competent folks would be quite happy to receive an exit payout. It's tiring working with mediocre sycophants whose only reason to exist is to please their boss.
I'm more concerned that I won't get laid off.
I’m looking forward to it!
