Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Bad decisions

Management is making so many decisions that are bad like creating weird rules that forces an entire organization to quit. Not like real policy like the d-mbest thing ever no other company would ever consider.

Is it surprising? This company was doomed the moment they started buying up CLEC’s. It didn’t have to be a problem but Windstream decided to have legacy ILEC folks make all the decisions. The problem is the way things are done with ILEC is not scaleable up to the CLEC world. Instead of diversifying management with CLEC folks that know how to run the CLEC side they promoted the folks they knew from ILEC. The merged company will not change a bit unless we are sold to another large CLEC.

It is what happens when those in management are there just because they are bar buddies, neighbors, friends, family with one another or some other reason we won’t mention. They make poor decisions because they were not put in their position based on merit.

"insurgent fiber provider" LOL.
I do remember many times telling an OSP fiber tech the fibers are not passing testing - their response was 'I ain't touching those fibers again because they fall apart in our hands because they are old, brittle and failing'.
So back to what kind of fibers are they providing and do the customers know?

We're not a Zombie company. We're a software powerhouse! No.... Wait..... Now we're an insurgent fiber provider.

A zombie company is a financially distressed business that barely manages to stay afloat, earning just enough to cover its operating expenses and interest on its debts, but is unable to pay down the principal or invest in growth. These companies are heavily reliant on lenders and may be one negative event away from insolvency or needing a bailout. They are often described as the "living dead" or "zombie stocks".

Sound Familiar?? Just Sayin

It is pi-s poor leadership. It is happening everywhere. It’s not everyone, but there are enough of them it’s sick. They scramble, make a bunch of changes all at once and then when a number gets better they chalk up the improvement to their change, when it all reality the improvement has nothing to do what they changed. It is how they take credit for something that really did nothing to impact a number but hurt the ones doing the real work, from properly serving the customers. All to have a good story to tell the executives or board. Too many people in leadership roles today are just in it for their own skin. The ones that really do care just get slapped in the face for not being fraudulent liars, cheaters, or stealers. There needs to be a management cleansing for the culture to improve.
