Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Toxicity is becoming unbearable

The manager has completely lost control over our team, and I don’t think they even care. They allowed office politics and squabbles to reach unacceptable levels. We are still expected to meet targets, and we do - under a lot of pressure. We compensate by doing a lot of overtime. Most of us are afraid of losing our jobs, so we do all in our power to keep it. It would all be so much easier and more efficient if my team was managed properly. I guess until we do what we are supposed to in terms of metrics, nothing will change. I started hating coming to work.

It seems that a toxic work environment is exactly what they want. If executives wanted to promote a healthy atmosphere they would monitor and hire managers with good skill sets. Here they get the bottom of the barrel. I don’t think the sr. Managers have a ton of skill in managing teams. This is high school and people yelling at other people in meetings is completely disrespectful but the manager says NOTHING.

"Functional government", there is no way that that's anything but satire. 😂

If you’re in CIB business control … yes your senior manager is a nightmare that causes problems even beyond your team. You’re not alone in wishing they’d move to other places

Um, Charlie here: while you're arguing over the president, I continue to lay you all off, hire incompetent managers to mismanage, so that we can continue to have a reason to lay off the competent overpaid workforce. As I save money on payroll, the board and shareholders praise my great work and give me millions in bonuses. When I am done destroying WF, i can retire with my winnings. Thank you. Continue on with your pointless arguments.

The toxicity described here is the result of mismanagement and a complete lack of accountability. The manager has allowed office politics and dysfunction to fester, while pushing employees to meet unrealistic metrics under constant pressure. It's no wonder people are resorting to excessive overtime just to avoid falling behind.

But here's the hard truth: giving in to this abuse only perpetuates the current toxicity. As long as employees push themselves to meet targets at any cost, the system sees no reason to change. WE are part of this cycle, and breaking it requires standing up—not just to managers, but in solidarity with one another.

Yes, it’s easier said than done when job security is on the line. But small actions—documenting the problems, escalating them, or even building a united front with colleagues—can start to chip away at this culture. Don't let fear of retaliation keep the toxicity alive. The longer we endure it, the harder it becomes to fix."

Hey, at least America is great again, right?

Destroying a functional government
Deporting "freeloaders" by rounding them up at their places of employment
Promoting racism
Project 2025 is going according to plan, so far

Good job, America.

Conversion, software version 7.0
Looking at life through the eyes of a tire hub
Eating seeds as a pastime activity
The toxicity of our city, of our city
You, what do you own the world? How do you own disorder, disorder?
Now, somewhere between the sacred silence, sacred silence and sleep
Somewhere between the sacred silence and sleep
Disorder, disorder, disorder

"The unfortunate reality is that few people who become managers actually put in effort to learn how to manage."

Serious truth here. I have seen it across various orgs I have been in.

Same here. I work in business control. My manager has lost it. They want people in the team to quit so they can take the savings and justify their own role. Our skip level is worse who makes no secret that they are looking for a role in the business.
