@106 Legit curious your reasoning. Same with Witty (who reported to SH during his tenure).

Think Utilities or Airlines - airlines are Frequent Flyer Mile Exchanges, flying people is ancillary. Their margins are 2-5%.

How/why is healthcare different and how is there long term room for for-profit Payers on top of for-profit Providers? Especially with AI? Even with arcane mechanisms you could operate a national Payer Hub to replace all of them with maybe 1,000 people + AI. Get rid of the mess of contracts and simplify reimbursement schedules and plan design and it's less.

It takes a snake oil salesman like SH or SD to run the shell games required, but the music will stop. We've only avoided a death spiral through acquisition, vertical integration, and layoffs. Even that has a limit, especially with a government that won't change in 2026 that is cutting health care spend.

@v1 It's good to know that poor Roger will be taken care of. Gets to rejoin his family back in his home country - no more communing between MN, DC, and India.

By the grace of God that poor man gets six months' severance and gets to keep his quarterly and annual bonuses and stock grants by staying on the payroll thru April 2026.

So wonderful that UHG looks after its own. It warms my heart that the tens of thousands that will be let go this week will have the same generous send off.

bumping this thread to help ensure the news and finance media see that UHG is losing another CFO, this time during Earnings Week

@OP Roger's replacement is a transfer to avoid a UHC RIF - 18 years on the UHC side. Wouldn't be surprised if this isn't another temp role to ensure a soft landing.

UHC is a shell game and house of cards - can't wait to see the spin he adds for Optum!

Ever considered that he wasn't a rat and that caused him to not fit in?

@en Ireland (and India) are next for what?

@ae Exactly! This is going to make UHG/Optum finance function even worse. Get rid of the outside voices (except the Indians) and double down on stupid.

This is INCREDIBLY important news for analysts and Wall Street going into Earnings. Where is the strategy other than MOAR A-EYE? It's just shufflin. Fire your CFO days before earnings SH thinks it's old school cleaning house. Nope, you have a geriatric snowbird making a mess - not fixing - a broken company.

Amazing we find out about this second hand. So this will be the third person in the CFO role since spring? This place must be in a big death spiral if finance people are bailing this fast.
