I see a pretty major reorg announcement just went out. Any thoughts? Anyone concerned this is a precursor to layoffs to come?

@a4 You said October, pretty close, end of September, lots of moving...out the door along with their teams... sad.
@1k5 wonderin’ the same. That group grows and grows and people who aren’t capable are promoted to vp. A lot of people without clear direction.
How about the ongoings of the Corporate (lack of) Strategy department?
@OP what were the changes...?
@1j4 what do you recommend
@1cm the company has pushed Teams as a single source for communications for some time, so it does seem appropriate the sale was announced there. I see there was even a “development days” session on how to further integrate Teams apps. At some point communication has to move away from emails and homepage posts. How much storage space is used by your personal and work email accounts? How integrated is the home page with your calendar? Seems to me HCSC is behind other companies in having a single, integrated communication tool.
@1hn maybe got slammed and stuffed into lockers.
@1aj Shannon is a complete disgrace and joke of a VP. He gets off on belittling people and making people feel less than. You can tell he was a loser in highschool and now he's hiding behind money to seem cool...
@1aw Is that an appropriate way to tell your employees that you sold off half of your largest subsidiary? Not in the daily newsletter they push out, nor the news platform they’ve forced to be our browser homepage, but the internal social media platform where people share their quilting projects?
@1ap This news was released earlier today in Teams, in Viva Engage or whatever it’s called.
@17p It’s both crazy and totally on-theme for me to read about this news here before any internal communications go out.
@a4 I am sure Shannon will be Chief of Staff because he puts in the “work” 😜. Maurice allows him to dog walk anyone that he doesn’t like… Jill just sits idle and counts her coin. Meanwhile Customer Service is constantly understaffed and on fire and they celebrate with bonuses, lavish holiday parties and renovations for desks that have never been sat in.
@nx Exactly! Musty nasty smells you can’t escape!
@19k the same one wearing gym shoes thinking he’s cool?
@19k never been close enough to smell him lol
@eq Sure is, and smells like body odor. Those stupid suits he wears looking like a cartoon character and those ugly pins on his lapel. What a joke!
@11p Wow. You were not wrong: https://www.hcsc.com/newsroom/news-releases/2025/dearborn-group-symetra-reach-agreement-acquisition-life-disability-business
Expect more subsidiary consolidation this year. If you’re in a role at Dearborn that someone is also doing at HCSC, start looking now.
Subsidiary company Luminare had their legal team absorbed into HCSC’s this week. There were a few on that team let go.
Nothing new. They alway trim the top first to save some money. Feel like 2020 all over again when a few of the executive got let go
@j9 The musty disgusting one.
Rumor is that they elected a new CEO today.
@ac announcements feel a little self serving. Like the fat cats getting more and more while we are strapped for resources.
@eq which main one??? There are several.
@ah agree 1000%
@hc HCSC is an $80B dollar company. The CEO salary is going up just like everyone in the company salaries. I wonder if he is on the hybrid schedule!
Maurice Smith 2023 earnings = $28M. Now he’s Chairman of the board so that’s gone way up.
@eq forced out...not just HR...across the board.
But Shannon is still walking around being a cancer... Oh okay.
@en ?? how so
All the wrong people are leaving or being forced out of HR. The MAIN issue is still clucking around like a damn chicken!
Josh may not be a horrible person as claimed, but his leadership of DMOM has been objectively poor.
First Sid. Then Rob. There is some serious backstabbing going on.
@bc this post definitely says more about the type of person you are than the type of person you claim he is.
Josh Akovenko? EVP? Wouldn't surprise me. Cigna's Cornerstone Initiative went to cr-p on his watch. He is just so inept, I don't get the love for him. He is a horrible individual.
@af truth makes sense to me as major improvement to eliminate siloes and increase staff utilizations. I’m happy about it honestly as my area has not utilized effectively for a few years
@ac Hah, don't count on it. Utilization rates were "too high" so they are hacking away at positions to make up for it this year. We'll all suffer through it so we can make an API goal so the senior executives can get their fat 8 figure bonuses next year, all the while we'll likely see half or less for API payouts at the frontline/core employee level.
@ac exactly the wrong way to handle this reorg without context or mission.
Is Josh Akovenko still there? Came over with Cigna. Expect him to be an EVP sooner than later!
John Tryon from IT Security is gone too.
