Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

State of the Uniti

First time listening to Kenny G speak. Didn't come off as a cold numbers guy like Paul Sunu or Tony Thomas.

Didn't seem as out of touch either. No stories of great revelations in Swiss Alps. No management book of the month guy.

Is Kenny G the messiah who can lead this insurgent fiber provider to great things? Or the next merger?

@em - so what is the company culture these days that you claim was run into the ground in just the last 4-5 years? Staying at Windstream as long as I did was my worst career move!

Sunu had one mission, and that was it. That was obvious but even Sunu didn’t seem as upfront and honest as G has been so far. Sunu just passed the reports on to others to keep everything stable until his job was compete. G is a straight sho-ter. Seems like a no bullsh-t kind of leader. Very refreshing. My favorite line was something like; just come to work and do your damn jobs. Pretty amazing concept. The High school drama queen cr-p that has built up the last 4-5 years needs to go, it has run the company culture into the ground. No more identity politics bullsh-t. Do what your paid to do, do your damn job. It’s about time we hear that from a leader in this company.

LOL - sure the G-boys are a breath of fresh air - well for those that have been under a rock for the past 20 years. If they shared the Kool-Aid more (AKA money) the rank and file might also become mindless zombies and repeat such dribble, unfortunately the pitcher can only hold so much juice and always seems to run out when its the masses turn.

I’m not sure if this company can survive no matter who is in charge. But I thought Kenny G was a breath of fresh air. Exactly the qualities you said - He seems normal. He is a numbers guy by training but has passion for the business and seems to take ownership. I liked hearing his honesty about layoffs - that they’re coming, but that he thinks it reflects a failure on his part when they happen. I liked hearing his honesty about acquisition activity. It feels like we have the real deal at the top. There was lots of “we” in his statements.
