Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Next Layoff Details

Can someone describe what the process is for deciding which round you are a part of for the layoffs? I know I was marked because of what I was linked to workwise and sus behavior this year, but what determines what wave you are a part of? I have nothing to do and not sure why I am still here with nothing to do.

@fa+1kj5eydr9, that's probably why you didn't know because you were being cut, also.
The managers who aren't being cut definitely know and they definitely have a say in it.

@ej That’s untrue. I had no idea they would lay off the team that reported to me. I knew I was going to be cut but had no idea they would cut my team.

Agree 💯 with @ah+1kj5eydr9, that it's managers choice and higher ups sign off.
Any manager that says they had no idea is being untruthful. Managers definitely have a say and they definitely know ahead of time.

Boils down to "managers choice"

If they are intimidated by employee ability (specially if at same or similar level)

They choose who they want and the higher up just signs off on the manager selected impacted employees..

Its a save your own and a-s game.

@OP I can't say, as in I don't know, but I will say I was especially slow (oddly so), not busy at all before I got let go in January...

Yes there is "someone" who could theoretically describe this process, but it ain't any of the folks who post here. From the employee's perspective, it is and will always be a black box, by design.
