What happens if I’m on PTO the day they do layoffs? Will they call me on my personal phone, or wait until I’m back in office the next week?

@ef what area are you in, if you don’t mind me asking?
@ak. My leader did the same thing last week. I’m even more concerned now.
One of my coworkers was laid off while on vacation. Another while on a business trip. They will contact you.
They have never worried about up to date personal contact information for any other communications…….so my guess is take your personal stuff home before your vacation.
My manager texted the following to me and my coworker last week:
Good Morning Team. This is a TEST. In the event of an emergency work situation, we need to ensure we have updated contact information should we need to communicate with you. Please respond to me once you have received this. Thank you.
Perhaps HR is encouraging leaders of people to do this in order to prepare for layoffs and make sure contact information is up to date in the event that someone is OOO the day of. Could be a complete coincidence who knows. Certainly makes you wonder though if it is related.
They will reach you while you are on PTO. Speaking from experience in 2015, there were many on PTO, maternity leave etc. they were all contacted the day of.
I think they would contact you day off.
