Bonus eligibility on severance

Anyone know if former employees are bonus eligible while on severance? Said employee made it through the last day of eligibility as a WF employee in 2025. I have heard rumors that those impacted may get a prorated bonus; however, there is nothing in their severance paperwork. Any insight welcome and appreciated.

@ak What LOB? I was laid off just prior to 9/30, doubt I will get anything.

Also, it's not part of severance, it's part of their compensation plan..... had an HR employee specify this out to me.

@ee I just compared the plan document for 2025 and 2026. In 2025 you were still eligible if you were employed on Sept 30. 2026 you have to be employed on both 30th and Payout date. Notice of termination for ANY reason you are no longer eligible. So seems in the fine print they have tightened it up quite a bit

@ae Nope. You must be ACTIVE status to be eligible on the day of PAY OUT. You are no longer in active status on Notice Period or Severance. Down vote all you want but you should review the Knowledge article or benefits book. All about ACTIVE status.

@a7 You don’t have to wonder. A communication was sent out to remind us that you must b e active on the day bonuses are paid out. Non Working notice or Severance it is clear…..No BONUS. Su-ks but that is the rule

@ak I don’t think that is the case anymore. They are scraping the bonus pool dollars so likely they will not be sending variable comp to workers on notice no less on severance. Managers need to provide or their working staff with the little they have to distribute. There is no certainty with the variable comp.

HR is very clear that you are NOT eligible IF you are not ACTIVE the day it is paid. So if you are on 60 non working or severance unfortunately you are not eligible. HR literally sent this in email to everyone so it is transparent

I was laid off in 2024 and it was prior to 9/30. I received my full bonus.

Per the HR website you are "eligible" for 50% or more of your bonus id displaced after Sept 30th, not guaranteed.... so it depends on your leadership, and expect less than prior years.

looking at yesterday's financials the are allocating the same amount for bonus and meric increases as they did last year, $0.8 Billion

I would not count on it at all, especially given the poor financial results reported yesterday. It was reported that there were $612 million in severance expenses for job cuts in last quarter alone. Although your notice period may have started after 9/30/2025, why would they give anyone who was displaced an incentive bonus when they are 100% discretionary.

if you were an employee as of Sept 30 then you are eligible. plenty of anictotal evidence on this site of people getting bonuses but my guess is your mileage will vary. Even in the best of times I never count on a bonus and definitely don't spend one before it is your account.

If we don't get anything in Feb, do we get some sort of communication indicating that so we don't have to wonder and call the Displacement line or reach out to former manager?

You are eligible, but unlikely you will get any.
