Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

How late are we allowed to stay at the office?

Are we allowed to stay overnight after a late night?

It's not a good look for you. It could get you disciplined. The bigger question is why do you feel like you need to stay so late ? What is your manager's input ? How does your family feel about this ? Send an email to T. Duckett Brown to obtain her opinion and approval !

@kg nah - let the mo--n do it. Then he or she can complain about how awful he or she is treated after being fired. And then not be able to find another job. It's the best case scenario.

@jw hopefully you are joking. Know at least one person fired for doing that.

I’m gonna start going to the gym at around 11:30 PM to get two badge swipes in one go. One for the night before and one for the next day after midnight. I’ll let y’all know if it works out.

This post made me think of a random thing I saw one time on the intranet - in recent years, but may not be in place anymore. If you stay at the office after a certain hour working late, the company will pay for you to take an Uber/Lyft home that evening and back to the office in the morning. I asked my manager at the time and she said it was to eliminate liability of employees commuting under exhaustion. Sad state of affairs that employees would be in this situation. Forgot the stipulations of which offices, but I do remember this being on the intranet (and I thought it was in an email once).

Employees are allowed to use the gym and facilities after hours. Guests are not allowed to use the gym at anytime

@ec no to gym per liability. When you sign up for access, the contract says that. I assume it applies to the outdoor space as well but not sure.

@dx

Would it be fine to bring a family member to the gym on weekend? or use the basketball/pickle ball courts? Specifically for the Charlotte campus

@dm they are accessible over the weekends with your badge. Just not staffed.

@cs Charlotte Living Well Health and Fitness Center is indeed "Open 24/7". They don't have to be staffed to be open.

@ce

Are we allowed to use the gym after hours or on weekends then?

Major offices are open 24x7 but its not a good idea to crash after a night of drinking. Security guards will witness the impairment and video surveillance will confirm that you weren't using company facilities for work purposes, a slam dunk firing for cause.

@OP why? Just… why?

Also don’t ever spend more time at this wretched company (or any other company for that matter) than you have to or are paid to. With overtime being approved in small numbers it makes zero sense to be in the office more than 8 hours.
