@t1 it’s because Indian IT leaders get kickbacks for bringing you into the company. Duh!

@t1 No. This is due to kickbacks and corruption that Indians do so well. Don’t even try to make it seem like Indian educational system is better. How can it be with that much corruption?

@t1+1k2q0n1y1 - Started with someone thinking that 1-ply toilet paper will get the job done. When that got messy, a person was hired to oversee the 1-ply users instead of going back to 2-ply. That person shows nepotism towards 1-ply as they are invested in 1-ply working. So they promote 1-ply as equivalent to 2-ply if you double up … look you can get so much more toilet paper for the same money. Now their is so much investment in 1-ply there is no other option than to use it and deal with the 💩

Why are there so many Indians working in IT at Elevance Health? It seems like there should be some Chinese, Vietnamese, etc., but it is mostly Indians.

Is this because Indian universities are much more effective at training software developers/coders than U.S. universities?

@hg Labor shortage is a myth. Labor just doesn’t want to do the job for the wages being offered. Offer more money and you would see labor shortage disappear. Greedy corporations need to change their business models or maybe have more realistic growth goals. Any business thinking they are going to get double digit growth year over year are setting themselves up for failure.

These companies only hire young H1Bs, frequent RIFs, and routinely report massive labor shortage in high skill labors in America.

Slavery is not dead. Corporations just found ways to modify it to stay under the radar and somewhat within the laws. I don't understand how some people in management and at the Executive level sleep at night. They must all have traits of a narcissist.

@e9 I’m reading your post with a tinge or sarcasm. I think you meant to say “Long live Elevance” tongue in cheek. Not much love for them here.

It’s good to see that slavery (let’s call it indentured servitude, sounds so much nicer) is still alive and well in corporate America. Love live Elevance!

@cd+1k2q0n1y1 - same here. In addition there were a number of H1-Bs that worked pet projects outside the company for management while collecting a check. The workers picking up the slack couldn’t whistleblow without risking sponsorship.

The abuse of some of the H1Bs is absolutely true. I have had both male and female H1B India IT workers secretly come to me in tears about management forcing them to work nights and weekends and demanding they not let anyone else know what was going on. And the H1B resources were not being paid a dime of overtime. They were under non-compete contracts with the company holding their H1B sponsorship. It was either tolerate the abuse by the employer or quit and return to their home country almost immediately.
