ShitTel and SHOULA TAKEN THE PACKAGE guy are the same. Noted.

You’d think a Midwesterner could come up with new jokes after literal years of the same, tired song.

Nothing more than preventing this ShitTel filing for bankruptcy. Yeah dump more money to potato chip makers at McDonald to fry silicon chips for ShitTel until they are over current or under voltages to burn da house.

@e8 The package math is about expired for all the but the oldest of old farts.

Anyone who didn’t take the package and is still collecting a paycheck for working 1/4 of a day is ahead now.

Thanks for your service, Wisconsota.

@e8 and its the Daymond Jon kind of shark. The worst shark who just talks and never invests. A typical DEI with All Talk

The sharks can smell blood in the water and are starting to circle. None of them want all of Intel. It won't be long before they each tear off their piece from the carcass and do whatever they want with it. It won't be pretty for the employees.

Should have taken the package.

@e3 you are short a 0 in your laid off worker estimate. There won't be any piece of Intel left that has more than 15K employees in it.

Apparently they have been talking to Intel for a while, one of many rumored discussions.

'Earlier this year, SoftBank held talks about buying the chip-manufacturing side of Intel’s business, which didn’t result in a deal, according to people familiar with the matter.'

@dg I am the @a4 poster below and thought the exact same as you. What took Masa this long to invest in Intel ? And 2 bil is not a lot in the grand scheme of things considering how much Intel is in debt and a Fab costs to stand up. I am sure Masa is getting something out of this and he got a call from DJT after he met with LBT

A little surprised that Softbank and others didn't jump on Intel prior to this.

They can all see the vast amount of semiconductors which will be needed for AI, Robotics and robocars.

All it would take is a few of the big users to buy out the shares, take Intel private, then sell off ProdCo.

They would be buying the whole company for what the real estate is worth.

For that matter, there are a few private equity firms big enough to do the same thing.

The 'barbarians' are at the gate now, so see who else comes to join the party.

This 2 bil is again what % of our current debt ?? And it does not guarantee any customers. And those fabs - they still empty land. Dont let these aholes sell you that Intel is saved with this 2 bil cash feed and potential Govt 10% stake.
We are losers!

will government pay Intel money (Chip act), buy Intel stock, or take 10% of Intel stock?

Well, I guess we have the the name for IFS once it is spun off: ARM Foundry.

Softbank also bought Ampere Computing for $6.5 billion, so the $2B in Intel is not that big of a deal to Softbank, but it does make them the 6th largest shareholder.

If other concentrated investments happen then that might enable the Board to be further rebuilt. The real losers on the Board are already gone but there is always room to improve, adding more technologists and less finance, HR and the like.

@cw so Intel couldn’t ‘develop its own follow on architecture to replace x86 and it completely lost the manufacturing process technology race. Why keep the company running?

Intel is headed to ARM

AMD will be the keeper of x86

Intel ready to start developing ARM, once they spin off IFS.

Softbank always wants to get in the door first.

Is this massive investment supposed to somehow make customers magically flock back to Intel?

This seems analogous to regularly dumping money into an old run down car just to keep it on the road.

Am I missing something?

Are we really acting like Intel can’t figure out a way to burn thru 2 measly billion dollars with nothing to show for it?

These investments all make great sounding headlines...

The reality is Very different and if you workd at Intel, you know that any new cash is just feeding more paper in the dumpster 🔥..

So what, that is about 2 or 3 weeks of money at Intel's burn rate. It is not enough to fix any of the problems. It is like the Government negotiating for a 10% stake. That money is still from Chips Act so in reality they are just hedging their position so that they can recover some of the Chips Act money when Intel goes into bankruptcy. If you are still holding INTC this is an opportunity to get out with a little cash. It will be a short lived pop just like all of the rest of the news.

China is moving full speed ahead on RISC-V and its own chips for ISA independence. They don’t care about ARM or x86. They don’t care about nVidia’s chips, either, because they are on the way to copying the designs. They have fabrication, packaging, and integration capabilities and are leaving US manufacturing in the dust. No amount of effort, unless Manhattan Project style, will rectify the American position in this race.

Softbank is a trend chaser and that has led to some big wins and some big losses.

Look at the fiasco they caused with options manipulation as an example, and some of their tech bets are on par with Crazy Cathy Wood.

That said, they are always trying to predict where the puck will be, and now are making a decent sized investment (or trade) in Intel.

Add this to what appears to be the govt making an equity stake, and pretty soon you have a floor on the stock in the low $20s.

TSMC might change their tune about buying into a spun off IFS with these kind of investments being made, just as a trade if not a strategic move on their part.

The market and semis in particular may test the stock much harder, but it might also be starting that test from the $30s.

With money, it will have a chance to perfect the tech. Remember... Softbank owns majority of ARM. ARM was shopping for foundry.
